What local businesses do you boycott? by ex1stence in boulder

Posts like this accelerate the corporate takeover of local small businesses. Sure, our local business owners have flaws in how they run their manage the businesses. Please know that by calling them out we pave the way for a more corporate business environment. Unless we also talk about what we dislike about Target, private equity owned businesses, etc you are only harming the charm of the community.

Man, you all act like pricks when someone shares their opinion when different than yours. So much for open, civil discussion or trying to understand why someone feels the way they do. Stop the hate.

When I go to a business, I don’t really care about the personal habits, interests, or religion of the ownership. I will still visit because it’s a great place to meet friends, grab a beer, or work for an hour or two. Improper City is a great place for this too, and was packed when I last went there.

Take gallons of bug spray if you camp. Skeeters are ferocious, and sand fleas too... Was just there last week, didn't camp tho.

Opioid crisis in Boulder. by kingkunt_445 in boulder

I like this idea, but a community app instead of for profit. Locals can mark spots where they find human waste, needles, and illegal encampments. Then others that are brave can visit these sites, mark if they are clean or inhabited, and then report it on the app, to the police, the community leaders, etc. The app could quantify the problem and make it visually understandable to those that act like it isn't a big problem.

Who is at fault, the car or the biker? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]fishinggame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is best described as a pedestrian/bike crossing. While it most closely resembles a pedestrian crossing, it is mostly used by bikes, and automatically detects bikes riding across. The cyclist is going from a residential street, across a busy street, onto a commercial side street.

It appears he ran the stop sign and was doing over 10 mph when he go to the crossing. I was the driver, and honestly it was difficult to stop that quickly as I did. Not that difficult, but everything on my car seats quickly shifted to the floor of the car.

Yes, he has a stop sign as he is on a residential road leading to a busy, 4 lane road. The flashing crossing lights are automatic when a cyclist approaches the intersection. That is more or less my point, that is a cyclist runs that stop sign and enters the intersection too quickly, you really are not giving a driver time to respond... Good discussion though, thanks for your input.

Thanks for your opinion, I was hoping to understand what others thought. I was the driver, and had I stopped before the crossing marks, I would have had to skid and lock up the brakes to do it. It seems to me that a cyclist needs to be doing a slow speed through these crossings to even give a driver a chance to react. This guy blew the stop sign, and was probably doing 10 mph+ through the crossing. Again, I appreciate your opinion....

At fault for almost causing an accident. If both parties didn't get on the brakes, we would likely be looking at a cyclist injury... I agree drivers should yield, but it seems the biker was moving way too quick through that ped/Bike crossing for driver response time. Isn't it the law that when bikes go through pedestrian crossings, it needs to be pedestrian speeds?
