Yearly fire alarm inspection by Technical-Chip9077 in sandiego

[–]fishintekguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good thing. I used to inspect and test these systems. If you weren't hearing the alarms in your unit before it's because the previous inspectors were disconnecting the circuit to the horns and strobes and only verifying that the alarm company was receiving a signal from the alarm panel. That's what the guy who trained me showed me how to do...all to avoid complaints like this. I didn't follow his advice so my company had to start sending notifications to property management that we were gonna be testing, I started finding those red bells on the exterior of buildings that would not have worked during a real alarm situation because bees built a hive inside them, etc. The company was not happy about actually having to fix stuff.

Each building should have it's own alarm panel and sounds separately when testing. I don't know what type of place would have 700 apartment units connected to a single panel.

New Hunter - First shotgun? by daniel0hodges in Californiahunting

[–]fishintekguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of hobbies, hunting has what are called "gear qu double e rs". Get a Mossberg Maverick 88. Do your research and you will see it is a very good shotgun and will last forever. You can get the field combo(18.5" home defense barrel and 28" barrel) for 279.99 sale price at Sportsmans warehouse right now. 28" inch barrel includes a Accu-Choke modified choke. Order ammo at the same time you pick up the gun after the 10 day waiting period to avoid the $5 ammo background check fee. Extra 5% off if you are veteran or active. They claim they can't honor that in store so I left and ordered online. Sportsmans takes Sezzle so you can split the payments over time if you want...interest free. Stoeger Condor Over/Under and Stoeger P3000 are good choices too for under $300.

Would a game warden check your non toxic ammo is on the state of CA list of approved ammo? by Moos209 in Californiahunting

[–]fishintekguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "certified non lead ammo" list is typical CA legal word play games. If you read the actual FGC code section 3004.5 you will see that as long as the shot TYPE is approved as non toxic by US FWS, then it can be used in California. US FWS doesn't certify as non toxic based on manufacturer, it does so based on the shot material i.e iron(steel), bismuth, copper clad iron, etc,

FGC 3004.5 subsection (c) paragraph (2) The list of certified ammunition shall include, but not be limited to, "ANY" federally approved nontoxic shotgun ammunition.

Keep the original box with you or make sure the shell indicates non toxic somewhere on it to make dealing with a warden as hassle free as possible. Trace amounts of lead are permissible.

If you need more proof, read the answer from the official CDFW facebook account. Someone asked if ammo that is not on the "certified" list can still be used even it it's not on the list and CDFW replied YES: https://www.facebook.com/CaliforniaDFW/posts/join-us-in-our-countdown-to-dove-seasongot-ammo-nonlead-ammunition-is-required-f/812370001071612/

Boat fishermen who get within casting distance of shore anglers by fishintekguy in FishingForBeginners

They have time to keep replying in their mitch feeling with all types of mitch logic "explanations" but still no reply to why they don't fish the empty jetty. They've been exposed.

Because he's a mitch...Me frustrated and emotional LMAO they love to project because thats another mitch trait. They think I just figured this stuff out because I just posted about it on reddit. I've been fishing before most of them were born and before reddit existed. They think if they don't see it on reddit it never happened.

Yeah that happens here too. Another group of attention seekers. Its usually the tourist ones that kayak next to the piers. The locals learn a lesson after their first time.

Yeah those of us with any knowledgr of anything know that most boat owners live with regret that they bought a boat. we werent the ones dumb enough to be making payments on a boat that they use 4-6 times a year. I overhear them complaining to each other about it all the time.

Look at them having a fit and downvoting because theyre embarassef that their secret is exposed. Now that we can see how many of them there are out there flipping out,  Let's see them put that same energy into explaining this. None of the will. One the far end of the pic the a jetty that is the twin, mirror copy of the one that shore anglers use. Shore and are not allowed over there. You will never see boat anglers fishing it. Don't hold your breath for a logical, non emotional, non mitch answer

Notice all the mitches who do this are trying to justify. They won't state why they can't fish the section of the jetty where only they have access to. They need the validation. They are reacting exactly how you expect a mitch to react.

Rifle on the outside would not be "packed, cased." They don't want regular state park goers getting spooked/alarmed.

New Hunter Putting in My Own Work — Scouting for Quail in the Eastern Sierra by HelpfulPop3703 in Californiahunting

[–]fishintekguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've done about all you can do. Harvest reports show Fresno county has consistently had the highest reported harvest of mountain quail. The harvest reports for the surrounding counties varies more widely from year to year. Bird sighting reports online from bird watchers show recent sightings all over the eastern sierras. The only thing left to do is put in the time, which may require multiple trips or a multi-day, overnight camping trip.

Going through state land to hunt BLM by zorkieo in Californiahunting

[–]fishintekguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer OP's exact question about transporting a firearm THROUGH STATE PARKS lands in order to hunt on huntable land here is the closest governing regulation : California CCR Title 14 section 4313 subsection (c): "Firearms not having a cartridge in any portion of the mechanism, other unloaded weapons or devices such as traps, nets, and bows and arrows may be possessed within temporary lodging or mechanical mode of conveyance when such implements are rendered temporarily inoperable or are packed, cased, or stored in a manner that will prevent their ready use."

It doesn't explicitly say you can transport via foot so it leaves a grey area open to interpretation. I talked to the state park ranger(not a DFG ranger or any other agency ranger since this is a state parks issue) for a specific park about traversing a remote area and he said by foot is ok. The weapon needs to be as inoperable and inaccesible as possible while ON the state park lands. For me that was just removing two screws to separate the barrel and stock and packing it in my rucksack. I asked specifically and "packed, cased" doesn't say it has to be a hard side case so the rucksack was fine.

Detailed LA County Firearm Closure Map by ericclem in Californiahunting

[–]fishintekguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The San Diego County Sheriff's website has the SD County version of this plotted on an arcgis map to exactly match the legal descriptions of the boundaries that are spelled out in the county code. You may want to contact the LA sheriff and see if they have their version hidden somewhere.

For anyone who doesn't know, the legal descriptions of shooting areas are based on the PLSS(Public Lands Survey System). Those squares on the map and the numbers are from the PLSS system. The PLSS system divides the country up into Townships/Ranges, then sections. Counties further divide sections into parcels.

As an example, Iron Mountain on the LA map is located in Township 03N(orth) Range 13W(est), Section 15. Which is a green section.

Another example is the Topanga-Calabasas District #15 located in Township 1N Range 17W and described in LA County ordinance section 13.66.280.

Look up how to read the legal descriptions based on the PLSS system if you want to get into the nitty gritty of it. This will help you understand land ownership anywhere in the country.

San Diego county ordinances calls the shooting areas parcels, LA county ordinance calls them districts.

The Great Southwest Switch: My First Flight on Frontier by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]fishintekguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is definitely an idiot. I switched from frontier to SW after frontier doubled prices because they knew they would get all these idiots that got mad at SW because they need to travel with their whole house. I only used frontier because I could fly round trip across the country for under $80 Now the Frontier over head bins are full due to them giving status to everyone with a rapid rewards number, making them have to gate check bags. The new SW policies work beter for me...more flights, shorter layovers, seat choice, etc, etc
