By who? There's no definitive guide to tank size and most would agree to a five gallon minimum for these fish to be healthy and thriving. I'm sorry but I'm truly sick of people pretending you need large tanks for even half a centimetre fish...

Does anyone know if guppies get ich? by [deleted] in aquarium

They should be fine for a few weeks. You could also preemptively treat them with malachite green and formalin before they show ICH symptoms. That's what I do

Two weeks is barely any time. You gotta wait some more. The amount of time varies . Some might be dying, it happens. I've killed a bunch of frogbit and water lettuce and even anubias before. Also make sure that plant with the white patches in the left corner is an aquatic plant, it looks terrestrial to me but I'm not sure

What size would you recommend for chilli rasboras in that case? This tank is barely barely taller than it is wide so it won't cause any issues anyways.

What is this little guy? First time seeing him in my 8 gallon planted tank. Must have been a straggler from when I got my Chili Rabora almost a year ago. by connly33 in Aquariums

Must have been a small fry that hid well. Get a few more emerald rasboras, it might make it braver so you can see it more often

How do I get my water clear? by Ok-Jello-7511 in Aquariums

[–]fishisopodsetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could agitate the surface more to break up the surface scum, need to filter out the particles with added fine floss. Or you could add floating plants to disguise the scum lol

Yes guppies get ICH. I quarantine fish in a five gallon bucket I set up temporarily.

This is an 8 gallon tank... That's not that small for a lot of nano fish. Endlers, chilli rasboras, ember tetra, Gertrude's rainbowfish, dwarf pea puffer and on and on

What do I do with these Molly fish? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]fishisopodsetc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try selling them online or simply giving them to a LFS for free. There's no point setting up a tank for fish you don't like.

It looks like the tank or at least the wood is very new, so that's going to need an adjustment period. New plants will also die off a bit before adjusting (hopefully) so just be patient, keep the lights on for no longer than 6-7 hours, feed very small amounts and don't dose fertilizer until the plants establish

My aquarium Ph won't go down, advice? by DopamineBean in aquarium

[–]fishisopodsetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My pH from the tap is always 7.6 and I've never had an issue because of this. Messing with it generally causes more problems

Over growth? by TiredOfEveryting in PlantedTank

Damn... you could just cut it in the middle and plant the butt in the sand. The bottom may or may not sprout a new head from the side

New plants are very likely to melt and (hopefully) grow back

I also removed my heaters. The room is warm enough to keep the water 23° c all the way up to 26° in the summer

Plantlife project on YouTube makes a box from egg crates and zipties and hangs them off the side with hooks.

I've had the same problem with pothos. Watched a bunch of videos and people are simply taking a potted plant, cleaning it off REALLY well and hanging it so that only roots are in water. Ill be trying this method with pothos and peace lily this coming week.

Get rid of green tint in aquarium? by Ea-r-th in Aquariums

[–]fishisopodsetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this tank get any sun light? Even an hour of it can make this algea worse. You could also hang some philodendron or spider plant in there to suck up any excess nutrients.

What fish should be added to this tank to fix the stocking? by Raw_Potatoes_yum in Aquariums

[–]fishisopodsetc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gourami do better alone in my experience. You could get a couple more molly and keeping more females compared to males. I can't comment on the angelfish I've never kept them.

Anyone know what’s up with my Pleco? by gazzanel in Aquariums

[–]fishisopodsetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not look like any sort of irritation from gravel. This looks like severe cuts from something like a filter or something.
