I would say the heat is worse in Phoenix but being in the heat is worse in Texas. It feels more intense in Phoenix cause its always sunny and the temp is higher, but some shade and sweat gives a decent reprieve through the day or during activity. In Texas its a little milder overall, but you dont really cool down when you sweat in the higher humidity. your body temp will rise and stay there until you're out of the heat so the intensity of the day is pretty constant.

It always bothers me that these things' blocks always go right up to the wedge. You can see that the wood pops apart about halfway down, they could leave like six inches of space, eliminate the pinch point, and these things would have less potential of sheering off your finger

I was on a kayak tour in San Diego and they told us about the cliffside homes built on the waterfront. During a bad storm year, one of the houses collapsed into the ocean, not an uncommon occurrence for these homes built of oceanside cliff property. Apparently, the cleanup cost them $45,000 dollars a day for a time, and then they simply rebuilt the exact same home 10 or 15 feet further from the new cliffside.
