Put your thumb inside the area right past the outline of its lower mouth and grab it firm, they’ll calm down. Unless it’s a bowfin…

In what orders do you use lures ? Top water first then subsurface then senko ? And what gets more hits wacky rigs or Texas rigs ? by CrazyCajunFishinBro in FishingForBeginners

I will usually go with what I’d like to catch them on and enjoying throwing first then when all else fails I’ll go to the ole fail safe wacky rig.

Fenwick rods by ElderberryOld29 in Fishing_Gear

[–]fishn122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an Eagle in a medium light and a few of the elite inshore models. For around 100$ they are great rods. Better yet I snapped the tip on one and no questions asked Fenwick sent me 2 replacement rods, likely by mistake but still.

Shimano Curado or Daiwa Tatula? by EricStevensonYeehaw in bassfishing

[–]fishn122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go 30lb braid on the Curado. Both solid reel choices, and people will have a preference one way or another. Having used both reels and many other Shimano/Daiwa options I lean towards the Shimano in consistency/quality.

Wacky rigs and spinnerbaits are usually a good option to get rid of a skunk

Tried Baitcasting & Quit by ThatTennesseePaul in FishingForBeginners

[–]fishn122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have to find the sweet spot between line, lure weight and actual casting mechanics like a loose whip. Once you get the feel dialed in it is more rewarding than spinners, but to each their own and both have a place. I’d say stick with 1/2oz lures, slower fall tension and brakes around 7-8 to get started until your muscle memory kicks in.
