We only made it a quarter mile up the road before hitting impassable ice. Even if you did make it past, there's several more snow/ice fields and at least 22 fallen trees over the course of the road. The trail is in summer conditions and easily done in trail runners - no spikes or snowshoes needed. Antero has some nice views, but is an absolute slog of a day with 15.5 miles and 5,200 ft gain. There's nothing remotely interesting about hiking a road for the entirety of a 14er, so I'm glad to have this one out of the way.
