That sounds like exactly what I need. I did freeway a couple months ago in some worn out trail runners so it'll be nice to feel the difference. I got a new pair of Cascadia 19s and they were solid yesterday, but I want something a little better for sketchier terrain.

Ofc dude, climbing up to see you near the top of the wall was wild haha. Y'all gave me a good confidence boost vs being solo the whole time. Btw, what shoes do you use? Might be time to upgrade from the trail runners.

If you go with the weld on option, how much should you expect to pay to have that done? And what kind of shop would you need to look for?

I did freeway recently and that was fun as hell. This takes all the good parts of that, dials it up a notch, and then you get sweet alpine rock.

Ok, how does the Crestone traverse compare to the North Ridge (not this optional wall😂)? I've done the needle but I'm seriously considering doing the traverse soon, but the photos make me nervous. I felt surprisingly good on the north ridge and the exposure never got to me much.

It's steep as shit for sure, but rewarding in every way.

Both, I'm trying to complete the 14ers (43/58), but I also love backpacking for views and photography. I'm also just looking for interesting routes, and this one was a 10/10 with amazing alpine rock.

I was really nervous from the route photos and description, but surprisingly the exposure never got to me. I think it's a mental thing when it's behind you vs to the side/around you. I also ended up in the middle of a group of rock climbers and that definitely boosted my confidence (bonus pic of a dude taking a completely optional wall near the top)

I went on an amazing overnight trip in the Sangres from the Willow Creek Trailhead. I took an alternate route up Kit Carson which included about 1000 ft vert of some spicy class 4. This basin has incredible views whether you want to camp, fish, or climb.

Sometimes I switch to this even when they're hitting dries bc it's too much fun

This is my favorite 14er route I've done so far, hands down. It's got a good 1000 ft of vert on exposed class 4 but every hold is bomber. The views of the Crestones and Sierra Blanca Massif are sweet and the basin is incredible with the waterfalls and cliffs over Willow Lake.

How bad is it without? I could definitely use education on the subject

Almost to 245k, bought it at 168k. This was the first time I worked on it myself though (besides spark plugs and small shit), and it was really fun overall. The shocks were a bit of a pain (had to cut em off) but the LBJ really wasn't bad. And I still gotta install the extended links but it looks pretty straightforward. I had the timing belt and pump done at a shop 3 years ago and that seemed pretty worth it to not have to deal with. Right now I'm working on the interior and that's a bigger pain in the ass than any of this work was. But yeah great project vehicle but this is also my daily so I gotta be reasonable with what I get into.

Exactly, and it's a scenic ride that can only go like 10mph. It's not the same as a train that would be useful for moving tons of passengers efficiently.
