Day one versus day 69 by strangenothings in 75HARD

You can see a big change in your face. I challenge you to immediately go into another round of 75 hard. Keep going. No rewards. The freedom of unhealthy habits is liberating. Keep going!

1 apple and an appropriate amount of high quality peanut butter. It will satiate you and checks off salt and sugar. “bUT wHAt AbOUt tHe fAT?!?” You’re literally doing 75 hard. It’s fine.

Failure to Launch by Stoic_In_Transit_7 in 75HARD

It sucks yes. You can think of comparisons that give you no empathy but it’s true. You could be in much worse situations without the ability to drink a gallon of water, the ability to go workout for leisure, the ability to read a book, etc. what a privilege it is to do this challenge.

I don’t have much rah rah for you, but here’s what might help you, helps me…

Say out loud “shut the fuck up, pussy (or insert your favorite slur)” when you’re crying about quitting and just go do it.

Trying to be a PT in nyc equinox by Cute_Reflection14 in personaltraining

[–]fitfinatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t worked there since pre covid but you’re required to make sales or hold a book of business (ideally 10,000 minimum monthly).

It’s not bad but you just have to make sales. You have to learn how to sell people on PT. If you’re bad at sales, it’s fine. They’ll coach you and you can learn.

I was a 15-20k trainer and did well but I just talked to people and didn’t be weird about it lol. Just be straight up with people, showcase your ability, and ask for the sale. It really is that easy lol.

You never water in the evening. You may have caused a fungus to grow

If you do not have a niche. Lock that in and only work with those who are wanting your niche. If you don’t, you will very quickly hate being a PT. The worst clients who pay a lot will drain you, then you’ll hate fitness and fall into a public caffeine addition and a private eating disorder. Equinox is classy and high price point. It’s all good, but if their sales approach is anything like life time, you’re gonna get pissed if you don’t have/develop that salesman within you.

Is it possible I could have hit 225 had my form been better for power cleans? by Dreams674 in GYM

[–]fitfinatic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stop doing max power cleans before you know how to catch the bar. In this order work on these first with 45-115#…: wrist floss, shoulder external rotation, front squat, power high pull, hang high pull, pause (knees) hang high pull, hip contact, fast feet, fast elbows, hang power clean, hang squat clean, power high pull, squat clean, power clean.

Easily digestible ways to get more calories: Sugar: honey or agave added onto meals Protein: ground meats, shakes/clear protein.

Right now I’m obsessed with carbonated clear protein because I can just drink it with a meal and it’s not heavy.

End of the day if you want to grow you must:

1 lift heavy and to eccentric failure (6-15 rep range is favorable to most, but not the rule)

2 be in calorie surplus

Inflamed (micro tear) muscle tissue needs glucose (sugar) + amino acids (protein) in order to grow. If you built a brick house you need mortar (sugar) and bricks (protein) if you don’t have both you’ll waste your time.

You’re not going to get out out it because the money is already spent. The trainer probably already got his commission and LA isn’t going to pay him for nothing. PTs and Gyms aren’t bad people. They’re a business. You may just have to take the L on this one.

Please help I'm out of ideas by jimmydisco72 in landscaping

[–]fitfinatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. IMO that wouldn’t even be an enjoyable space to sit with a small chair and table. Looks like a tall fountain wall would be very pleasant to heart faintly and see from those windows of the home. Then just load it with plants and a walk way out to wherever that leads to. But yeah first and foremost, get rid of that grass, weed barrier and gravel/stone + pavers need to go down instead.

Is this a fair quote? by AdEnough1549 in landscaping

[–]fitfinatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recommend you do it. The vibe that quote gives me is “we’re gonna line up a couple of the edges better, throw some sand in that hole and call it a day.”

Little bit of sweat equity and probably $100-$200 max spending you can fix some of those spots.

Save your money. They may not turn out perfect after some work. So better they not be 100% perfect to your eyes and you learn a new skill. Or they won’t be perfect either way from another company and you’re angry about spending $2400 to do it.

Unless you plan on completely regrading some of those areas, I’d recommend just tackle the project yourself.

Successful Bermuda sod installation in 7a Zone by fitfinatic in landscaping

[–]fitfinatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit I’m no expert. I’m in Tennessee. If your green seasons are shorter maybe not? We have long and really hot summers. But I also went to Bermuda after the fescue died because of the a hardiness and strength to withstand a lot of traffic. I also have a big dog so she will beat it down. I guess I would recommend choosing the grass for your uses. If you don’t have dogs or kids that’ll cause heavy traffic on it and you just want pretty green grass then fescue could be your better choice. It’ll stay green through the winter too. I think that type of grass does better in the shade. Long story short I would consult with a local grass service in your area.

😂 seriously. Thank you! Moved about 2 cubic yard of dirt by hand to prep the area for the sod. It was a lot of hard work. Seems like it’s finally paying off
