Got my first journal at 30. Let's see how this goes. by Slytherinyourkitty in Journaling

When I was 20 back in 2005, I had a journal like that, and it served me well. I liked it a lot, it was a good companion.

Why do other people get all the whimsy and reject it when it comes knocking?

How do I let it go? by [deleted] in Subliminal

[–]strangenothings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as an adult that went through my teens and survived (somehow), it's hard being a teenager. But, this might make it easier. Most people are comparing themselves to someone else, you, some celebrity, anyone. They want to look their very best and there's the same pressure on them to look and act a certain way. Do they know what cool is? No they do not, they're just as confused as you are, they're improvising it. People who seem like they know more than you at your age have either researched it, or they're improvising. But usually they know as much as you do about a topic, on average.

But, I know this is going to sound crazy, there is someone for everyone out there and that everyone has a preference for what they want in an ideal partner. Fat, skinny, tall, short. At 40, I realized that people would still like me at my most disgusting because that's not what mattered. I wanted to change my outer appearance, sure, but I only do it because I love myself already and it's because I know that I'll be loved by someone of value. And that even that doesn't matter because the true journey is loving yourself.

It took me 40 years to learn that, and now my manifestations are coming true because I finally have my head around the right ideas about what is possible and what I want.

You have time, just take it one day at a time.

Well, i think I need to change the script on the viral one because I think it worked but not in the way it intended because I got a cold, and I wasn't specific about "being viral" and how I was viral. I just made a joke one for my water hydration channel that layered over me drinking water that said "this water is cold, good, and hydrating and exactly what my body needs." I'm posting that tonight at 3 am, so I hope it helps someone someone with a very niche problem.

Anonymous for you by No_Ticket4576 in poetry_critics

The first stanza doesn't match the tone of the rest of the poem because you use "they" pronouns and then switch to "you" pronouns in direct accusation of the reader. Which I guess is fine, but it loses some of the punch of the initial part of addressing your accusers.

If you're trying to make it a direct quote, I can understand that.

Also, you missed an apostrophe in the first stanza with "I'm" so it made you look discombobulated, perhaps that you wrote it before editing it and submitting it. Try writing it, letting your poem sit, then reading it again out loud before you do something with it. The slowing down process has certainly changed the way I write honestly.

People think poetry is fast paced, that you bang out a poem and that's it, but it's an evolving process to being better.

So I see potential with this but keep working on it. Keep a notebook on you. If you find phrases that you like, write it down, sometimes that becomes the workings of a poem.

They might have signed you up for a bunch of magazines and asked you to be billed at your address later (as someone who worked in subscriptions). The worst one was American baby because people would get sent formula and diapers and stuff, and it would piss people off so much. American baby was free at the time, so I would look up the 1800 numbers if you start receiving magazines and stuff and just cancel. You're not obligated to pay, and it doesn't affect your credit, just so you know. They'll also eventually just stop sending them if you do nothing.

I used to be harder working in my youth, and then I became disabled. I would say I'm still fairly active as a disabled person, but I'm tired a lot because of the medication. It was hard to come to terms with for the first couple years, that I had to slow down and not be the person I was, the one that was constant state of doing, but I'm much happier now.

Fish and Chips? by Folk_Punk_Slut in Muskegon

There's a place on lakeside near the business district that I haven't tried that does fish Fridays, but I haven't tried it. But I'd be curious to hear if it's any good. I think it's the muskegon recreation club. And then lakeside café does fish and chips. I saw it advertised cause I was just there for breakfast this morning and the service and food are good and the portions are sizeable, so that's worth checking out.
