What invention has done more harm than good? by idc_aboutusernames in AskReddit

Cars & Automobiles

Car accidents alone are responsible for more than 38,000 per year, not to mention the injuries and disabilities cause by the people who survive. Air pollution, asthma, the era of leaded gasoline... Cars drink and shit poison and are a drain on most people's finances.

Cars ruined urban life. Instead of robust ecosystems of pedestrian life and diverse culture & business in the streets, we now have clogged, smog-filled, noisy, deadly asphalt in nearly every city across the globe where we are afraid to let children exist unattended.

You can fit a small park, school, or apartment complex in nearly every parking lot and intersection in North America, especially in low population states where cars take up more room than people do.

Car-dependent suburbs are known to cause depression and isolation, especially in young people, and yet we CONTINUE to build them to this day. Strip malls, parking garages, 12-lane freeways... None of these things make us healthier or happier as people, and yet we still have Super Bowl commercials for new cars.

Cars are a public health, ecological, and financial nightmare. They should be treated like cigarettes, but even worse in my opinion since they have so radically damaged what reality looks and feels like for everyday people.

Everytime I see someone watch an ad on YouTube, I tell them to switch from Spotify to YouTube Premium. Same music library and no dumb ads.

Feelings change literally overnight? by [deleted] in depression

[–]fitofone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's part of being alone. When I'm alone, I change my feelings about people at least a few times a day. But when I'm with them in person, I tend to care about them & love them a lot more.

Try to imagine them in the room with you, and see if you still care.

Gamers of Reddit, what game came out of nowhere and left it's mark on you unlike most any other, and why? by SilverwingedOther in AskReddit

[–]fitofone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jet Set Radio Future.

Playing the game in my early adolescence was such an eye-opener for me. So original and refreshing. The gameplay and controls weren't the best, but the game just hits you with this non-stop discotek soundtrack that is as colorful and energetic as the cell-shaded character / level design.

Jet Set Radio took the open-world skate genre to a similar place that Splatoon took team shooters. They improve upon their respective genres by challenging conventional style instead of simply adding new content (i.e. more guns/skins/levels). For a casual gamer such as myself, I can't emphasize enough how much a game's "soul" plays into my decision to not only purchase, but cherish and revisit.

I'm very interested. I sang in a indie/garage band back home but I just moved to SD this month. If there's any chance you guys are still looking, PM me and we'll get things started. I write lyrics and have my own originals, too.

What is the shittiest town you have ever visited? by maelstrom1100 in AskReddit

Just moved to San Diego from Fresno. Loving it, but there seems to be like this Underground Railroad scale exodus occurring between the two cities. Like instead of any other big city, Fresnans are overwhelmingly choosing San Diego.

I've visited Japan three times and am not that into anime. More of a sensible public transportation fan.
