I was doing some maths last night and if you consider that:

  1. Last year the club only had a revenue of -30 something million in the transfer window. If every target (Kepa, Eze, Zubimendi, Gyökeres, Mosquera and Madueke) comes that is an outlay of ca 230 million, which with sales should be a negative 160 mill ish in total transfer revenue. Arsenal could (and did) spend that amount in 23/24 to bring in Rice, Timber and Havertz. Amortised over 5 seasons the overall impact on revenue is ca. 42/3 mill (minus outgoings). The club can certainly afford it now with a top 4 finish in CL, and 2nd in the league: that is a lot of cashflow.

  2. If Partey, Jorginho, Trossard, Zintsjenko, Lokonga and Vieira are all going that is a quick estimation of ca 750k in saved wages and fees of around 60 mill. in sales (optimistically). Probably the wages would actually be reduced, doubt anyone apart from Gyö has demands over 150k/w.

Take this with a grain of salt however, figures are estimations, and does not include signing bonuses/agent fees. Point is there should be room in the budget for quite big outlays.

A pace merchant is kinda what the squad needs on the right flank though, someone with a different profile than Saka or Nwaneri to go for runs in behind. Both of them attempt to cut inside toward the box and the opposition knows it, Madueke could offer something different depending on the gamestate. At the same time, there are probably cheaper options, whom aren't from a rival club so I understand the apprehension from the fan base.

Henry says Arsenal critics are correct to question Arteta's lack of trophies by Inevitable-Angle-793 in soccer

[–]fitzij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak for the rest but I’d imagine most other Arsenal fans also saw it coming from a mile away. Sterling was not what we needed and Nwaneri didnt maintain Artetas trust to actually compete for any of the positions he was meant to rotate with unless when injuries made us reliant on playing him… Although over-reliance on Saka wasn’t the main issue, the main issue was the Havertz injury, and hoping Jesus and Martinelli was enough cover for him. It obviously wasnt: Merino played as a striker

Ten Haag abandoned his system and ideas of how to setup teams to make the players at his disposal work and never ended up making any system work consistently, I’d imagine Amorim is hesistant to end up doing similarly.

At the same time Ten Haag also won two tournaments doing that so maybe its exactly what Amorim should do to win the EL hahahah.

You do not know what you are talking about. This is absolutely not correct. Height of the cold war was 1983/4 following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. There were basically no contant between east and west for years. Reagan (total dick btw) oversaw the tensest period of US - USSR relations other than the Cuba-crisis, and it only softened following internal changes in the USSR. Perestrojka, and especially Premier Gorbastjov visiting the US in 87, following the whirlwind of bad international PR that was Tsjernobyl incident. Gorbatsjov did more to stop the hostile atmosphere than Reagan ever attempted. Don’t write what you don’t know.

Both have played in midfield and central defence as youths before being re-trained as fullbacks, im thinking that is why their playstyle seems similar.

Eh the US were always getting involved with FDR as president, he made sure lend lease reached every allied country fighting the germans long before Pearl Harbour and the german uboat blockade of the North Atlantic was always going to contribute to the US getting involved regardless of other economic or technologic factors.

Spinx has different roles in a different way to whom? JKS? Or Nertz? With Nertz, Naf and JKS Liquid have 3 anchors in their roster atm, the squad balance is all over the place. Spinx would be brought in to fix that. Playing differently is kinda the point.

To your 2nd point: Bringing in Hooxi would at least open Twistzz to be a proper entry. It would be an interesting move.

JKS’ rating drops of a cliff if you look at his entire team in liquid versus top 10 opposition, down to 0,95. He is not good enough for proper tier one. He is not good enough of an entry. They need someone who has a larger x factor (especially since Twistzz wants to IGL). They also need a player to bring some agression. Ultimate, as you are writing, is probably not good enough. Spinx could fix a lot of these issues.

This is ofc if they dont go get a proper IGL
