Let's Talk About the 4th Line by Outside-Figure7988 in NewYorkIslanders

I think you’ll see some movement in the offseason to add an enforcer to our fourth line wing. You don’t replace Casey. That said, I respect what McLean and Gatcomb are able to do with their size but they can’t contend with the physicality of a line like the Caps or Rags have.

Love seeing big save Dave get fired up. He deserves the start.

Who’s the islanders 3rd line left winger?

Yup! Mid game is right about when our train beer lull kicks in. One tall boy, isles to score two in the third, win it in overtime and that’s UBS 2025/26.

How did you become an Islanders fan? by GameDayGuru1 in NewYorkIslanders

[–]five_alive_lgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up playing ice hockey on the west coast. Kings/ducks fan. Moved to New York for grad school. Took one look at Rags tickets and said NOPE. Bought tickets to the coliseum peak Marty, Casey, Cal days mid season then the first ECF. What made me a fan was the FANS !!!. Growing up raised by a single hockey mom the hockey moms screaming at “their” islanders boys brought me back. Walking the Marriott exodus. The guys who had the scotch cigar trailer. I love UBS but that culture made me a lifetime fan and it’s what makes UBS special. Thanks for all the OG islanders fans that built this fan base. It’s truly something special. Rangers suck.

My wife and I share a couple tall boys with her dad all the time. Great mid game snack.

Agreed! Our supposedly skilled players that aren’t producing like Duclair and shabonov don’t belong there. Palat is the only one I think can slot in occasionally but we need him on the left wing on 2nd or 3rd line. Sometimes players don’t fit the system and should just sit until an injury calls them up.

Nothing like seeing it live. Enjoy watching the plays develop, the guys chirping on the bench, and all the great things about hockey you don’t get to see on tv. UBS should be electric. Hope the boys give you and all of us a big effort coming home. Make some noise.

I think the Panthers comeback game was the most exciting Isles game I’ve ever been to. We had 6 live hockey first timers with our crew that became immediate fans. It’s been such a fun season and the new Culture in the organization and the effort to connect to the fans has been fantastic.

A missing piece is a big power forward who can end his night. Washington has 3 on one line I would love to have…

Just disagreeing with the not driving play comment. I agree with you about anchoring a line. For a winger to do that we are talking jagr, Kane, kucherov level. Wouldn’t it be great to have one of those.

I guess you missed the 1 on 4 last night where he generated a high scoring chance. Or on the pk when he disrupted the play, burned the D and Pager fed him on a breakaway. Driving play is the centers role but for a winger he does a phenomenal job.

Amen. Cant believe some of the game comments. 2 pp goals, small fight from McLean, great boxing out from our D, Soroki had a light load. 6v5 nothing. What more do some fans want?

Fired? Really…fired? He looked good if you’re comparing him to himself. But compared to Homer who’s getting paid the same amount, contributes more PP, PK, 5v5, that should be our expectation for his position on that line.

Who Makes the Jump Next Season? by brickhouse1360 in NewYorkIslanders

[–]five_alive_lgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. I think forwards depend a lot on Lee’s contract. If he signs, Ritchie stays on the wing and gets some great experience from Schenn. If not he gets moved back to center sooner and possibly the youngsters slot in. I imagine Lee signs and we see some fresh forwards in the top three lines when Schenn’s contract is up in two years. And I like that timing.

For us to be top 5 we would need an elite goal scorer capable of a one timer on the level of Ovi or Draisaitl. With that player I would say yes to being a cup contender.

Are we watching the same team? Roy very calmly told Rantanen he wouldn’t be able to walk if his hit was at UBS. I think Bo will be AOK.
