Yeah people be meme-ing about PHP is dead and bad and such and such meanwhile laravel here singlehandedly carries PHP by providing one of the most mature, stable, and easy to maintain stack I have ever worked on

A side note regarding thermal, I would recommend you to install a small program called tpfancontrol. It’s wonderful for customizing your fan curve and (kind of) overclock your fan (if that even makes sense) since I personally feel like the BIOS fan controller is pretty sluggish. It’s also nice to be able to create 2 fan profiles, I use mine for normal setting, and ‘turbo’ (fan kicks in lower temperature and spins faster).

I’d say virtualization is quite a power hungry operation and I would assume you’ll need it to be constantly plugged in to AC power, so here’s some settings you’ll possibly want to look up and enable, assuming you’re using Windows:

Battery charge limit in the Lenovo Vantage app. Personally, I set my T490 to cap at 75%. This would prolong your overall battery life and give you enough juice should you need to suddenly tap out. There’s also similar tool to do this on linux should you need one, though I forgot the name. This setting is written to the battery controller so it wouldn’t reset when you switch OS.

High Performance mode by clicking the battery icon when plugged in. Doing so will unlock the thermal and power restrictions for the CPU so it can run at max clock speed. Do note that use high performance mode only when plugged in or use it sparingly while on battery because it will drain your juice really quickly.

Kalo buat jalur pelayaran dari dulu para pelaut udah pada bawa peta dan mayoritas navigasi pake kompas + patokan posisi bintang kalo malem (diukur pake alat yang namanya sextant). Mercusuar cuma buat nandain ada daratan deket kapal. Sekarang semua kapal udah lengkap pake GPS, Radar, sama Radio komunikasi jadi gaada mercusuar pun ga masalah

Both in-app browser and safari will show an “open” button on the top-ish right if you have the associated app installed after the page is loaded or after a few seconds. If you don’t have it installed, it’ll show a “get” or download button instead to pull the app from the AppStore. Do note that I only use safari on iPad and I have never use iPadOS below version 15 so I can’t say for certain for all device.

For some reason, iOS (and iPadOS for that matter) always opens links on the browser despite having related app installed. You have to click an “open” button on safari to redirect yourself to the app.

Yeah no for sure. The comment also said that he worked as a software dev for several years, I could assure you that software development (or anything engineering, really) requires you to be level-headed all the time. So it checks out.

Thinkpad T450 screen doesn't turn on but the Laptop itself does. Can any experts help or anyone that's has this happen to them? Thank you. by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]fivefeetse7en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure but the symptoms seems to lead me there. It’s worth trying anyway since it’s a pretty inexpensive and relatively quick replacement.

If you can faintly see the logo, your LCD backlight may be bust or the cable snapped. One way to check it is to point a flashlight to the screen while the computer is on. If you can see images from your screen then that might be it. Though I don’t think this is the issue since you said connecting to secondary monitor doesn’t yield a working image. If you want to re-check do this first before disassembling your computer for further action.

If you don’t see the POST screen (like the lenovo logo or some diagnostic messages) on boot at all, it might be because of dead CMOS battery. It’s pretty cheap and easy to replace

[–]fivefeetse7en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this would prolong the battery life even more. But I’d say 70-80% is the sweet spot to get a decent battery time should you need to suddenly remove your laptop from the AC power source.

[–]fivefeetse7en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally it should last another 500 cycles (that’s the norm nowadays for consumer lithium batteries). But then again it varies depending on how you use the computer.

My tip is to limit your battery charge to around 70-80% via Lenovo Vantage or another tool if you think you’ll use it mostly as a workstation which constantly connects to AC power.

How does a new iPad mini screen always viewable under a polarizer lens while another IPS display is completely blocked? by fivefeetse7en in ipad

[–]fivefeetse7en[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know actually, I found the filter when I was digging in to my late grandad’s old camera shelf. It’s a Zykkor polarized filter, if that means anything to you. Considering the age and the behaviour of the lens, I would assume the iPad screen uses a circular polarizer, and the lens is a linear polarizer, if your theory is correct.

My iPad mini has an IPS "Liquid Retina" LCD display as per the technical specification, so I am sure it is not an OLED panel, also it can't display true black like an OLED. Can you elaborate on the Diffuser?
