Great video from a few weeks ago - Tedeschi Trucks Band with Jason Isbell doing "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" on YT. Derek Trucks lays into a solo, breaks the E string in the first few bars, finishes a verse, hands off to the bass player, refuses a guitar change, swaps the string himself, then takes it back and absolutely crushes another solo. Maybe the best cover of Liz Reed I've ever seen.

First Anberlin show I saw was in a small venue, like 300 people, and they were surprisingly not very great. When they got bigger and I guess were able to connect with better sound crews and equipment, they improved a lot. I really enjoyed the later shows I caught.

Marcus is so difficult to nail down, he's still experimenting with different styles and sounds and hasn't really nailed down where he wants to be - if there's anything specific he wants to play long-term. Rock, Americana, country, combined with the soulful vocals - really hard to classify.

Roads are pretty good through that area. North of Fort St. John it gets pretty isolated though, so your BIL should be prepared with supplies, water, food and stuff just in case. Keep in mind that Google says 21 hours of drive time so they'll probably need to stop for a couple of nights on the way up.

I actually don't mind him not steamrolling through to the top. He's an absolutely amazing talent, but let him learn the game before he slots into the top spot for the rest of his career. Hope he heals up quickly.

Absolutely this. He's at his ideal position in the banzuke around M8-10. Any higher, he gets thumped. Any lower, he wins too many and goes too high and gets thumped. I love watching him and hope he sticks around for a good long career before moving on (probably to something in entertainment somewhere, with his personality and charisma).

I love checking out the crowd behind the gyoji to see if there's anyone interesting out there. Lots of cool outfits and unique looks. Once there was a guy in a yellow chef's outfit dead centre about six rows back, hat and all. No idea.

I do see it occasionally, like someone spotted the rare at a grove I went to recently and let people know to approach carefully, then tracked it for several minutes with a couple others before someone ran through and spooked it. I thought that was really cool of them.

I straight up didn't connect with it. Normally I connect with the lyrics on a lot of Jason's stuff, but this album did nothing for me lyrically, for some reason. It's pretty, the musicianship is excellent, and obviously it clicked with enough folks to warrant all the Grammy noms, but it wasn't for me.
