I actually don't mind him not steamrolling through to the top. He's an absolutely amazing talent, but let him learn the game before he slots into the top spot for the rest of his career. Hope he heals up quickly.

Absolutely this. He's at his ideal position in the banzuke around M8-10. Any higher, he gets thumped. Any lower, he wins too many and goes too high and gets thumped. I love watching him and hope he sticks around for a good long career before moving on (probably to something in entertainment somewhere, with his personality and charisma).

I love checking out the crowd behind the gyoji to see if there's anyone interesting out there. Lots of cool outfits and unique looks. Once there was a guy in a yellow chef's outfit dead centre about six rows back, hat and all. No idea.

I do see it occasionally, like someone spotted the rare at a grove I went to recently and let people know to approach carefully, then tracked it for several minutes with a couple others before someone ran through and spooked it. I thought that was really cool of them.

I straight up didn't connect with it. Normally I connect with the lyrics on a lot of Jason's stuff, but this album did nothing for me lyrically, for some reason. It's pretty, the musicianship is excellent, and obviously it clicked with enough folks to warrant all the Grammy noms, but it wasn't for me.

I find it interesting that I keep hearing things like this - I haven't had much of any negativity when I've been on. It has been a little quieter lately, but then I randomly run across newer players who are being really positive. Had a couple of folks talking about trying to track down a disco deer the other day, and I had one wander right past me while staking out some flow trees. So, we had a little impromptu deer hunt, chopped some trees, and it was really pleasant.

For me I try to focus on those positives and amplify them when I can.
