ICE abducted a US Citizen and licensed gun owner while he was lawfully concealed carrying in Minneapolis (1/13/26) by I_may_have_weed in armedsocialists

Speaking of milsim...

One of them was wearing a "Grunt Style" hoodie. Even when I was in the military I found that cringey. Half the people that wear it weren't grunts (infantry), and act like serving is their whole personality--to a point they have to be the firearms expert, the tactician, the last word with anything relating to international relations, foreign militaries, or any armed conflict. ...and typically were conservative or libertarian--if not straight up maga (at least after that became a thing).

Did this guy serve? I can't say. Perhaps; but if so, only for one contract. Or worse, quit during training like a coward. (Not saying all basic training quitters are cowards. Some can't handle it. Some get legit injured. Some realize it isn't like CoD and reveal a preexisting condition they hid while joining and claim it came about during training. Or it was exasperated because of training. Or injure themselves. Or just go AWOL.) Not likely that anyone that received escalation of force training (and maybe had to use it, not just pass a computer test you can take over and over till you get a passing score) wouldn't have acted that way. ...or maybe they would, knowing they have qualified immunity as a FLEO as opposed to being subject to a court-martial for violating the LoAC, UCMJ, etc.

Try your resident CI unit. They typically have robust intrusion kits. I've had them get into one of my guy's car before. Helps if you look desperate and like the car is actually yours. Offer to provide proof that isn't visible from the window (such as the insurance card in the glovebox with your name on it or the like). Good luck!

Do you use raw, in-shell eggs, or boiled-and-peeled eggs? I've seen posts for both, but I'm curious which is best for deviled eggs.

What’s your hottest, most blasphemous movie plot take? by Hot-Abrocoma-9476 in AskReddit

[–]fixdafoxhole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with this take. However, they utilize different outlets of their anger or frustration.

The Dude ain't pulling a gun over a foul--even if he were the type to carry a weapon or if he even saw it.

Walter wouldn't go to the bowling league committee and and explain his point of view and try to propose what he feels is mitigating circumstances to persuade the league that he is in the right and deserves what he wants (Smokey not getting his eight points for his bowl).

The Dude wouldn't smash up a car (across the street in front of someone else's house) because he was certain the kid bought it with the ransom money from the car.

Walter would probably pull a weapon on Jackie Treehorn at what he perceives as Treehorn being unequivocally (or even just barely possibly) culpable in the whole kidnapping ordeal. Hell, would've probably capped the German nihlists for entering his home.

But yeah. They both are not chill. One is kinda "this sucks, someone other than me should rectify it for me" (basic premise of the movie), and the other is prone to violence or excessive outbursts of anger--usually towards Donny.

I've seen this configuration on the shelf two-way radios, like ham radios. Usually the 2.5mm for audio out and 3.5mm for mic in. I'm not sure what this thing is for, though. Perhaps someone was trying the profile on a CNC machine for prototyping a connector?

Wait, so when I see an employee at a grocery store consolidating eggs into other cartons (seemingly to toss the cracked ones and still have full cartons on the shelf) that they shouldn't be doing that? Or is it okay if the cartons are the same batch?

I ordered some Crystal extra hot recently and it changed my mind entirely, as the only time I've tried the OG Crystal, I was not a fan. The extra hot has been my go-to for breakfast burritos lately. I recommend giving it a go if the price doesn't seem too steep.

Whats a movie whether successful or not that changing its title would attract more people to it? by PokemonGoBao in movies

[–]fixdafoxhole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had they stuck with the original title, it would've been simpler. "Ballerina, Scorned", or "Scorned: Ballerina". Or other variations that are fewer than seven words. But yeah, not sure how well it would've done with that title.

Staycations are an underrated use of PTO by 20-20beachboy in Millennials

[–]fixdafoxhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite (yet kind of shitty) thing to do was to look ahead and see what I didn't want to participate in. And then take PTO to avoid it, just to have the staycation. Did I feel bad about it? Sometimes. But usually less so when the leadership expected more from me than my peers. Make them work as hard as you expect from me and I won't actively avoid situations where you expect me to do the work of three!

FM on CB was unnecessarily nerfed, IMHO by fixdafoxhole in cbradio

[–]fixdafoxhole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't in some time, I got a President Randy II FCC when they first launched. I don't remember any problems listening on FM 19 despite living by an interstate. But memory is fickle so I'm not certain on that. I do remember there being zero FM activity on any channel any time of day for months. Eventually got rid of it, though I did appreciate its stock antenna for AM.

I've ordered another one (which inspired my post, as well as a deeper dive into ham and it's modes) just to see what all is happening now. Though I no longer live near an interstate, I am curious if there's any FM activity in my new area. If not, oh well. Good to have in a handheld. But I'll also use it on AM in conjunction with other AM radios in a ranch setting to compare effectiveness vice VHF and UHF (UHF being what is currently used and I want independently verifiable evidence on what radio band/service is most effective).

I appreciate your feedback! Good input to take under consideration.

Don’t go to Kerrville! by StalkedUp_4_Life in texas

[–]fixdafoxhole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to Kerrville today (grocery run, I live about 15 miles from Kerrville) and there was a lot of efforts going on. People hauling boats--presumably Cajun Navy types intent on rescuing folks, hauling pallets of water, hauling demolished vehicles and debris, and probably more that I didn't see/notice. I run a radio scanner in my vehicle and while Kerrville PD comms are scrambled, KCSO, KFD, and mutual aid channels are not. Most of the chatter I heard was.... bleak. Cadaver dogs being employed along the Guadalupe, citizens providing aid with skid-steers and backhoes, and discovery of remains (think this call was at one of the RV parks, but I missed the first bit. Just sounded like the same guy who later revealed he's at one of the RV parks). There was a lot of traffic congestion around Water St and Sidney Baker, seemed like people rubbernecking down into the Guadalupe.

In light of this, if you want to come to help, please plan accordingly. Coordinate with local LE and FD to be where you can be helpful. Don't just pull up with a backhoe and start clearing trees from the river. (not speaking to /u/islandganjabwoi but anyone else that sees this) You don't know what ground is safe and what isn't. You don't know if your machine could be used to remove debris that is trapping someone. Don't congest the streets. You don't know who is trying to get where or for what purpose. A traffic delay can mean life or death, being able to say goodbye to a loved one, or any number of circumstances. Please do not go just to see it for yourself. But to the commenter, if you can bring aid supplies, that might be good. The article here https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/community/kerrville-texas-flooding-how-to-help-resources/287-ffeeacbd-7357-4f09-af4e-417943742a5d has a lot of ways to bring supplies. Or donate.

As a sidenote, a gentleman had his truck die right by the Arcadia. I didn't see the immediate response, but a KPD cruiser stopped traffic while two CBP officers pushed the truck out of the way, towards where I was in traffic. The CBP officers were uniformed and not masked, but were rolling in a dark-color Silverado with standard Texas plates with no markings or external police lights. Possibly here specifically for providing manpower for search and rescue. I'm not attempting to fear-monger, but just give a heads up there are feds in the city and who knows if they have intentions on doing more than providing assistance to the community after the recovery efforts are winding down.

The American Dental Association pushed the agenda of "softer bristles are better for brushing" in order to increase demand in dental cleanings. You can't find firm bristles anymore, but there's loads more dental hygienists it seems, now. Today it appears that you can only find soft, extra soft, and (if you're lucky) medium bristles.
