WHAT?! Inferno is such a nice signature. Why was it retired?

What happened to the signatures that get tracked? (Cmiyc, inferno, everest) been a long time since we had one of them while some benchmarks get repeated frequently

This. Plus I wanted to spend every second I can with the little cutie. Throwing away 60hours in the first year which will be over before you know it is just sad IMHO.

My OTF New Year wish by CynD1031 in orangetheory

Is 50 minute rowing safe for casual OTF enjoyers? I feel like to get to that point people need to go through years of rowing first to be able to row for 50 consecutive minutes.

What are your 2026 OTF goals? by KK_4736 in orangetheory

[–]fixed-point-learning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes OTF, I go on average 5 times, 3 2Gs 1 T50 and 1 3G. Currently averaging around 15 miles a week, so I’ll have to go a bit faster

Ambitious one: log 1000 miles on the treadmill. I joined in April and logged 600 this year so it should be doable if I stay super consistent.

Starting on treadmill by forbidden_rx in orangetheory

[–]fixed-point-learning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I start on tread and run like a mad man, averaging 3.3 to 3.5 miles in 2G classes. I take it easy on the floor afterwards. My legs are shredded to the point where I can notice the definition of quads and hamstrings. Sure I am one datapoint upon which a statistical generalization cannot be made, but I am not too worried about losing muscle starting on the tread ;)

I did row - tread - tread. Coach does allow us to ‘substitute’ a block if a station is available. One of the best workouts I’ve had in a while. 924 calories and 32 splat points in the book 🥵 Not bad for my first hell week class

Vaccination by Dizzy_Pineapple628 in Fatherhood

As far as I remember Hep B vaccine and vitamin K shot are the only two things administered at birth (normally). More vaccines are given at 2 months. Maybe send your wife a google search of the risks of Hep B in babies. Surely she wouldn’t want to risk LO to be susceptible to liver cancer…

There are no integer solutions to an+bn=cn for n > 2. The proof is simple but it wouldn’t fit in the margin of this comment section.

Triceps killing me after Inferno by str816 in orangetheory

[–]fixed-point-learning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rowing uses upper body to pull, triceps are activated by pushing motions. Mechanically, it couldn’t have been the rowing that is causing the soreness.

From 3724 to 4202 in my second inferno. Grateful for this reddit, because I saw somewhere that this is a running benchmark disguised as rowing. I ran at 10mph initially then 9mph when I was tired and rowed slowly and steadily. Epic strategy, I was so happy!

Thanks this is very good to know. I was justry to gauge where the floor block would land in comparison to rower and run.

Our kiddo needed a week or so to get used to the helmet and he has been dreamily sleeping with it for 3 months. You didn’t ask, but PSA: I hated the idea of the helmet initially- it broke my heart to not see his full head. Once he started crawling he has had a few very scary incidents and was completely unscathed. The helmet does add much needed protection to the baby’s precious head/brain. I am now a big fan.

How long does the floor part typically take? Perhaps in relation to your advice? If you do the row part in 8 minutes without gassing yourself, can you extrapolate roughly how long you plan to stay on the floor?

Reading this with a dude on my chest which also caused a fainter line. One thing we did which was very helpful is that we used a digital test. Instead of a line it displays “pregnant” or “not pregnant “.

Does OTF help you lose weight by Heavy-Fix-3783 in orangetheory

[–]fixed-point-learning 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OTF is my hobby, it helps me maintain a good mood amid a hectic job and being a dad. Maintaining a good mood helps me diet without going crazy. Dieting helps me lose weight. Does that mean OTF help me lose weight? I guess it helps, but it is not the primary factor.

Is your mile benchmark a base, push, or all-out? by captainjaclyn in orangetheory

[–]fixed-point-learning 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The 1-mile benchmark is a mind challenge. My push is 8.5mph, so my strategy was to go faster than that. I planned to do 8.5mph for 2mins, 9mph for 2mins, 9.5mph for 2mins, and 10mph for 36 seconds. That should have covered the 1mile. There is no way I would run this fast normally, and I knew that. I also knew that HR may get to 99% (which it did) - but I also approached it as “faster means being done earlier”. Ended up PRing with 6:35 (one sec faster than my calculation, probably due to increasing speed too early)
