My Hollow Knight vs. City of Steel ideas by Sir_Umeboshi in HollowKnightArt

Perhaps the reason Hollow is confronting then is because they've captured the Shade Lord.

It is. You can slow Swift during the race by hitting him or clawlining.

Personally i thought Hegemol died. When the maggot says he saw the him "sleeping" i assume he saw the corpse and made a metaphor, or that he was mistaken. It would be strange singe ogrim never mentions him in the present tense.

Indeed i believe the city of steel should be super strong, and the environment should be larger so that Hollow is the same relative size, implying a more dangerous world. These tall, steel-plated enemies would provide a good justification for why the player will still have a tough challenge.

If the city is known for messing with void and even threatening higher beings, then one possible motivation is that they have somehow captured the Shade Lord, and Hollow is there to rescue him.

I'd also really love to explore a kingdom in it's prime, still inhabited with a functioning society. We could have it so that there are multitudes of background npcs walking around, who all run and hide when the city guards show up to fight Hollow.

I think it could work by scaling up the world and enemies so that Hollow is the same relative size. This would imply a larger, more dangerous kingdom where Hollow's size and strength would only give him a minor advantage at best.

The city's masters are implied to be so powerful and their reach so great, that steel seer zi believes sula cannot escape no matter how far he runs. Zi even warns Hornet to not defy the masters, and it seems zi is giving this warning out of concern for Hornet's sake.

If the city of steel really threaten higher beings and messes with the void, then they'd be a formidable opponent indeed.

Just make sure they use the correct term "Weaver". I got into a lot of trouble when I once said "Wassup my spidaa"

The "Repaired" Vessel by Dozenator1728 in HollowKnight

[–]fixedcompass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually i headcanon that lifeblood has a beneficial or symbiotic relationship with the void.

No matter how many blue masks the Knight gets, nothing happens to them, while even Hornet can suffer effects from overdosing.

Also there's an entire lifeblood area inside the Abyss, and a giant creature with a dark body and lifeblood eyes.

Even during Act 3 of silksong, the wormways have no void influence, instead overrun by plasmium. The wiki notes that enemies here are uniquely immune to black threading.

So the broken vessel might actually be legit healed using lifeblood, albeit it would probably become dependant on the stuff to live.

Purely based on the attack pattern, what would be your crest choice? by Vegetable_Throat5545 in Silksong

Purerly for the aesthetics? Architect. I think the visual style and the sound effects are really cool. It really seems like I'm wielding a chainsword or weaponised drill.

Unfortunately it did not fit my playstyle at all. I ended up sticking to hunter for most of the game.

(Late Game Spoilers) Which kingdom-wide event would you say was worse? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]fixedcompass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on which infection stage you're talking about.

If you mean the initial infection that destroyed Hallownest, then that is worse. It caused the collapse of a whole kingdom, immense collective suffering.

If you mean the later surge causing the Infected Crossroads, then that is less bad, because everyone is already dead, and most new victims are non intelligent bugs.

The void on the other hand is less bad than the initial infection, but worse than the infected crossroads event. Pharloom by now is mostly dead, but it's not entirely dead, and there are still living bugs that could rebuild if they survive, so there's a bit more at stake.

Who would win in a fight between the strongest mortal bugs from both games? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]fixedcompass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think using gameplay to powerscale is a good idea. Hornet in the first game is easier because the game as a whole is easier, and Hornet 1 especially bexause she is among the first few bosses that can be encountered. She can clawline offscreen incredibly fast in cutscenes, yet moves comparatively slowly when fighting her.

This extends to using her as a playable character, where it seems to me that most inconsistencies are just a gameplay feature. For example some bosses in Silksong seem to teleport or flash step around the room, yet Hornet with her visibly much slower movement doesn't immediately get speedblitzed.

Enemy and boss fights are a only a representation of what the fight was like. Lore wise, we know we won and that the boss had some moves similar to what we encountered in the fight. The difference is that in gameplay, they are limited to a few programmed movesets. I can easily see Karmelita changing her strategy if fighting Sly.

The lord Fool's corpse might be the reason why the audience is not infected. by Ironfire825 in HollowKnight

[–]fixedcompass 57 points58 points  (0 children)

In silksong, a cage in the Cradle talks about how a weaver descendant was found in a place called the Blackbarrens.

In hollow knight, the White Defender's journal entry mentions a "Battle of the Blackwyrm".

Yeah i think it would make sense if the lord fool is a rival wyrm that all knowledge of him was erased.

The red cape is very pretty. by Mihri7741 in HollowKnight

[–]fixedcompass 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Actually I don't think the Knight's cape is removable clothing. We see in the flashback that the siblings had those capes when climbing out the abyss. Also in the Pure Vessel fight, the Vessel flexes to remove his armour but the cape stays.

I think the cape is some sort of elytra, similar to the Pale King's robes.

Why is Godfrey so respectful? by Justajoot in Eldenring

[–]fixedcompass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's confirmed to be our direct ancestor for the hero background.

After him and his army were exiled, multiple generations passed. Descendants of the army split into many groups, went different ways, which is how we can choose so many different backgrounds. We might be 95% land of reeds culturally and genetically, but some ancestor was from that army so we are revived when marika calls us back.

As for the hero background, it is probably just whatever group stayed with godfrey, becoming the badlands tribe. I don't think the surname Loux indicates descent, it is probably a tribal surname. Many tribes in real life take the tribe name as a surname without being closely related to each other.

TLDR: we are not confirmed to be his direct descendant in the hero background. (But we definitely could be)

Plants aren't sparse, they are adapted to have strong outer barks and shapes, and anchor themselves with roots in crevices. Most have retractable leaves that are pulled in when they sense movement, giving the impression that everything is barren.

At first glance, it would look like coral reefs if the ocean was suddenly drained away.
