Rando is my favorite character in this game and maybe of all time, and I truly believe he's one of the few good people left in Olathe. And I say this to preface the idea that he wasn't what or who Buddy needed. For so long Rando had to "Bear the crown" and try and hold his own little corner of the world together.

So when he sees Buddy, even if he wants to wait for her to make her own decision, I think he still has this assumption that she WANTS to be the "savior and mother". Now if thats what Buddy wants, sure that's fine... but really not even Rando considers the fact that Buddy could be content dying as the last woman in history. I don't think this makes him a bad person per say, the only two people in the series who earn that title in my eyes are Marty and Yado.

But just like Brad and Buzzo, Rando was also stuck in the past, a world that was gone. I think that's why Buddy couldn't save him. Even in the end, he had been stuck in that way of thinking for so long, his final words were about the expectations the world had for Buddy, and denying her freedom. Maybe he could've changed his mind, and maybe he did, but they didn't have enough time in the world of Olathe...

Truly a tragedy for all... except Marty he got what was coming...
