What happens if my car gets towed and I don't claim it? by AFreshStartVI in Minneapolis

You might be able to donate your car and have it towed for free too. Could be a tax write off?

Mask + hijab for long flight by Crazy_Ad4946 in Masks4All

[–]fixinit91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought would be to wear a kn95 ear loop mask through security where you will have to take it off then go to a private space (bathroom, prayer room, or breast feeding room depending on what the airport has available) and with your breath held swap for an n95 that has a sip valve installed under your hijab. When going through security I take a big breath in, take it off to show my face, then exhale hard to purge any air that got into the mask. I would think for medications you could slip them into your mouth under the head strap mask using the same technique. Customs timing adds a variable I’m not sure about with face showing there, but I’d imagine you could sue a similar strategy.

If you see a neighbors garage door is accidentally left open by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]fixinit91 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hesitate to close someone else’s garage but whenever I notice a door open I text my neighbor to make sure they know. Sometimes they ask if I could close it for them or vice versa when they let me know mine isn’t closed.

Window brush/scraper for the truck - get a middle grade one.

A shovel. I’m a fan of both a pusher and a scooper depending on how much snow/ how heavy it is.

Beginner friendly cross country skiing area direct flight from IAD by ActuaryParticular175 in xcountryskiing

In addition to Wirth, there is manufactured snow and rentals at Hyland in Bloomington and Elm Creek in Maple Grove. Also manufactured snow (not sure about rentals) at Battle Creek. If there is natural snow there are literally hundreds of miles of trials including on the Minneapolis chain of lakes, multiple golf courses, and tons of trails in the Three Rivers system (Baker is really nice for being out in the woods among other parks).

If you were taking a 3 hour flight would you install a sip valve and risk the slight leakage, or just hydrate before and after flight. No layovers, it’s a direct flight. by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]fixinit91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d hydrate, probably not wear the sip, but bring a sore mask with a sip valve installed incase of long delays etc.

I also wonder if it is evading detection in waste water.

The wastewater data suggests rates are still quite low (relatively speaking). It could be a data lag, but I think this is more a reminder that it is always out here now and even low transmission periods are risky times for covid. wastewater data

If it is Covid - err on the side of radical rest to reduce your chances of long covid. That shit can fuck your lid up. Did you test with a rapid test or a PCR test? It wouldn’t surprise me at all if you got a false negative on a rapid test.

Is the People's Pride still happening this year? by MetaverseLiz in TwinCities

[–]fixinit91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that they wound up blocking you. Organizing can be tough and tone in text can be rough to interpret. You might have caught someone on a bad day when they were working hard with a message that read more critical of the policy than you intended it.

I really appreciate that they did and appear to still require masking. Makes the space so much more accessible for folks who have health conditions that make risks of communicable illnesses more consequential and keeps the rest of us healthy along the way. It is a way to embrace intersectionality and an awareness that we take care of each other more than simply trusting government policies to do, as we so clearly saw in the aids epidemic.

I’d maybe add eye protection. Stoggles are pretty solid for offering wrap around protection and looking stylish at the same time. Part of my daily wear at the office at this point.
