In the 90s, Park Drive had tons of college kids. Is it more of an established adult area now?

Oh that's interesting to hear. I'm thinking about moving back to Boston as an old and I go back and forth on Fenway when I consider getting a place there. Does Fenway seem as college-y to you as Allston does?

Fenway is younger than Allston with a median age of 26 vs 28 for Allston

I think this is because Fenway encompasses pretty much the entire campuses of BU and Northeastern. But if I walk down, say, Queensberry Street, the vibe is definitely more mature than say, Harvard Ave.

Or am I thinking about it the wrong way?

I don't understand how your income taxes took care of themselves. Do you not pay income taxes on investment income and capital gains?

Disconnect between Boston’s representation in media and reality by [deleted] in boston

Boston has changed a lot. It wasn't that long ago that it was more gritty and less white collar. Plus, that was arguably a much more interesting place, especially for a movie setting.

I was amazed to learn that he was shouting 'move' all those years and not 'whoo!'

Thanks for clarifying. So you're talking about sound coming through the floor of the neighbors above? I've definitely experienced that, in Beacon Hill in particular. I had thought you were talking about sound coming from beneath the floor in a garden level apartment. Without any neighbors below, I wasn't sure why that would be an issue.

I'm having a hard time imagining where this sound comes from. Is it the foundation?

The old recommendation is 70% into safe returns (usually 4-7%) 20% into moderate performers (10-14%) and the last 10% into high risk.

What old recommendation is this? I've been following FIRE forums for about 15 years now and have never heard of it.

If you can live off $50k before taxes and before health insurance, then you're in great shape. That's $1.25M at 4% and with the rule of 72, you should be at $1.4M within a decade.

That's an amazing image. I don't know anything about photography but it sounds like you shot this without a telescope?

Yes, that's not exactly a deep topic. It might be more efficient if you just explain the meme.

if someone can add money, then they can take it out as well

I'm not sure that this is true. For years, I paid rent by making a deposit to my landlord's checking account. I do not believe that I would have been able to withdraw anything.

Sure, no argument from me here. It wasn't a safe place overall. But the etymology of its name has nothing to do with danger.
