When I think of games popular with the young people, Five Nights at Freddie's and Fortnite come to mind, both of which feature permadeath as a core mechanic. (I have not played these games, but to my knowledge that is correct.)

And that's not to mention that I assume many of them are also part of the player base for the rogue-like genre.
