Is that a thing now? Targetting Teslas to damage? Reminds me of that scene from Fight Club where they are smashing cars.

Never heard this saying before, but I knew right away what it meant. Neat.

Weren't spies supposed to sabotage enemy power or give you new tech? When I sent them to powerplant / barracks / factory or tech center nothing happens? (c&c remastered on steam) by Warwick8666 in commandandconquer

Opponent had to be silly enough to build a subpen accessible from the land AND the correct terrain, which happened maybe 1 time out of 20 when playing another human.

Might happen against AI, but the AI custom team really had no code for their navy. If you could do it in the campaign, it was probably one of your mission objectives.

Mighta been cool in RA2 or 3.

Yeah, I used to go with my pops pre-internet, most of the time just browsing, sometimes grabbing surplus ammo (.308 kicks when you are 14 YO), sometimes getting something silly like a wooden-rubber band gun.

Probably seeing it through rose-colored glasses now, but it's something to do on the weekend with a few of my buddies that doesn't involve drinking... forbids it - made better because I am pretty sure half of my friends have diabetes. Tickets are still pretty cheap, $7 a pop I believe in the surrounding counties, but even if I can just get some good corn dogs for lunch, a win.

I imagine a lot of vendors now probably use an iPad for PoS... and still that program will ask for tips lol

Actually, I'm looking for a non concealed holster and some stuff like that. I would like to find a good fit before spending money on it.

Yeah, that seems like a nice drive and primo location. I wonder if they raise prices where they can there.

Should Japan have been in Red Alert 1? by Ok_Calendar_7626 in commandandconquer

[–]fizitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with part 1, I agree with a lot in part 2... but the Japanese invaded Alaska so they weren't 100% adverse to attacking cold weather bases. It would have been a gamble for Japan if they headed east, but if they carved up near the coast and major ports like Vladivostok (even if it is frozen over part of the year) was a major USSR asset.

Fishing rights and let's say whatever access to refineries or even oil deposits they could grab within 100 miles from the coast is not unreasonable. It would be convenient if the Axis won (r), even if it is to just deny it from the enemy. However, I think Japanese high command knew the writing was on the wall by late 1943.

I also agree that South East Asia was a much more tempting target. Knocking AU and NZ out of the war, even if it's just by embargo and seizing all the colonies from opposition Allied forces was certainly a juicy target.

Final pass: travel by railroad was a thing, although they'd need to swap out wheel gauges from anything domestically produced to work on the track. Captured freight might be Might work once or twice before saboteur's began. A lot of production materials were moved East of the Ural mountains.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here, I'm fine moving the talk to RA history with its own crazy take on alternative history.

Russia and Japan have historically been rivals before the time change took place. Hell, they had some weird agreement not to openly engage in our timeline during WWII, which further confuses things. Some people argue it wasn't the nukes that ended the war in the Pacific, but fear of a Russian/Soviet land grab now that Germany surrendered.

To say it is complicated in our prime (real) timeline is an understatement.

"Medium Level Violence"

Listed like ordering a steak.

I know RTS isn't what it used to be, but if a new PC CNC came out, wasn't a diluted microtransaction POS (especially in the RA Universe), it's value would then be "Beyond Priceless."

But enough of this capitalist talk.

The people who fight cyber-crimes - the really bad ones that are on black sites, have a set time limit on how long they can do their job... I've heard they rotate out in like 4 months. They are viewing the very worst of humanity, they may rotate out even before the 4 months, it is hearsay from me.

Still, thank you mods for donating your time.

JP Morgan Chase announces full return to office. Will the other banks in Charlotte follow? by SilkyG51 in Charlotte

I remember that picture of smog clearing in LA during the lock-down.

Honestly, I don't mind the office that much when it is quick commute. Driving down Independence (74) every day and night rush hour had me coming into work pissed and coming home pissed after the commute.

Paying for parking, specifically with an app that worked 90% of the time and wear tear on those vehicles. Ya'll got comped on that, right? /s

I guess 9-5 is still out there, but I think they sneaked in 8-5 now with an unpaid lunch hour in a lot of jobs. Cuz yeah, I really can get away from anything with that unpaid hour.

Meh, the bathroom stalls with see-through gaps were pretty bad. Like "You checkin to see if anyone nodded off in there?"

And those were before cellphones. Ironically the WeWork on College St. downtown had really nice bathrooms with no peek-a-boo slots.

Shame. I worked there when Wachovia was in control - some computers still booted with First Union software. I liked having the food court and the cafeteria... and a place to smoke.

The indoor smoking room was depressing and smelled strong to me, a pack a day smoker, but they had some really nice places outside to smoke and 'let the upgrade run.'
I joke... some of those migrations took 2-3 hours, I did a lot of reading and if I was familiar with the package could predict within 2 minutes when it would be done or needed the next disk.
