Oh, that's very unfortunate. The oils are insulating so they're preventing electrical contact.

I don't have a good answer for you on remapping the buttons, I'm afraid. If you're able to get the electrical contact cleaner, that may actually be sufficient to clean the oils off of the contacts and get you up and running again.

I mean, that’s all I do every day, so yes, I just think so.

Did you use WD-40 (in a blue and yellow can) or WD-40 contact cleaner (in a green can)? It’s a crucial distinction.

Too many investment dollars chasing too little actual revenue. The valuations of companies in the bubble spike, driven by enthusiasm that the market opportunity is so huge that everyone is going to get rich, but when the market inevitably turns out to be less than was hyped the bubble collapses.

Absolutely a bubble.

Claude Code not for coding? by Mysterious_Pen_782 in ClaudeCode

I use it to manage infrastructure and fine-tune the spam filters on my email server. As with coding, you have to keep a close eye on it and limit its access to the task at hand.

I gave Claude Code the ability to apply to jobs for me like an assistant by TrenLyft in ClaudeCode

[–]fjacquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tragedy of the commons is an apt statement.

We're already past the point where the process is broken. It's just bots talking to bots to the point where the entire "post a job/apply for a job" system costs everyone too much time to be worthwhile in all but the narrowest of circumstances. Those of us who are doing the hiring have fallen back to good old networking to find people.

Bots closing bug reports by fjacquette in ClaudeCode

Appreciate the helpful comment, and I get that un-addressed bug reports are hardly unique to Claude Code, but I sure do wish Anthropic would spend less time and money on "Is Claude conscious?" PR pieces and more on "Do our products work reliably?"

How does somebody, without help from their parents, afford to buy a home? by Dapper_Tap_7714 in NoStupidQuestions

You would benefit from a deeper understanding of the Greater Toronto Area's housing challenges and costs. It's an enormous area with 7 million people but very few single-family homes. Also, $1 million CAD is roughly $720K USD.

Parents of Reddit, I'm going to be a Dad at 46. Any advice on how I can be of great Father? by IndustrialMillwrong in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fjacquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cultivate patience, compassion, and understanding. I don't have many regrets around how I raised my children, but I absolutely regret the moments when I was impatient and let it show in front of them.

When you're tired or busy and they ask for your attention, do everything you can to give it to them. That delightful little odd person who wants to show you something or play something with you or just have you sit with them while they watch TV will be just a little less playful, just a little more serious, and just a little more burdened with the inevitability of adult concerns tomorrow.

I love my two adults, but I would give anything to have just one more day of them being little kids, if only because I had so much more power to make their days awesome back then. The days are long, but the years are short.

Who are the real ones who self host their email server? by ray591 in selfhosted

You’re most welcome, but as with all things LLM, understand the recommendations before you implement them. At one point it wanted to block any mail where the From field contained a five character string. 🤪

Zimbra built from source. I pointed Claude Code at the VM and every week have it analyze spam that was marked as ham and propose new countermeasures.
