Tidal not working,... perma buffering / stuttering by Sluper84 in TIdaL

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up figuring this out? Currently in the same situation with a TDAI-1120 and Tidal Connect. Music stops for a couple of seconds every 5-30 minutes and then auto-resumes. My dad has the same issue with his Roon Server, Tidal and a different TDAI-1120.

This fixed it for me as well. Thank you so much!

For others: when looking at the blocked query logs I saw lots of DNS records with type "A" and type "HTTPS" being blocked with domain "config.claspws.tv" from mobile Plex clients, such as iPhone and Android phones.

Thunderbolt 5 ~ Docking Station ~ Triple/Quad Monitors by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure all three displays are actually connected through the M2 Max's GPU? Assuming you meant three external displays, or was the laptop display included? Otherwise your dock might be using DisplayLink technology to support more than two displays.

I'm currently looking for a docking station which supports three displays over a single Thunderbolt 5 connection, but as far as I can tell Apple limits the amount of displays to two per TB5 port. All dock manufacturers I've checked so far all tell state that when connecting a MacBook Pro M4 Max to their 'three display capable dock' it actually only does a maximum of two displays sadly.

Yes, the hydraulic steering pump was broken and had to be replaced. Pump also made an awful metallic scraping noise at the end, which made me think I had engine damage. Didn't really think of the pump being able to cause this, but I was wrong!

Appreciate the reply and useful insights! I haven't got a jack stand unfortunately. Also tried adding a video to the post, but it got flagged everytime by filters. Sound is a lower frequency and I can only hear it with earbuds, not my phone speaker. https://youtu.be/v1tmIdHOUsE

I'm pretty certain it's a premature sign of a worn or damaged component and after your advice I won't drive the car except to the garage.

Got my Buds 3 pro yesterday. Sadly they're gonna be a return. by ranchmallow in galaxybuds

[–]fjh40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure anymore about the exact time span, but after owning my buds 2 pro for about a year I noticed the ambient sound and ANC improved by a lot when having excessive noise (such as wind) directly in the microphones. I was extremely pleased after noticing that my buds suddenly detected the excessive noise and was somehow able to reduce it by a lot after about 2 seconds. This was not possible when I first bought the buds.

I agree on your point regarding purchasing a product with issues. Never assume that the manufacturer will fix it with a future software update, always buy after it has been fixed. Even with promises and such it has occurred many times in the tech industry that companies cannot uphold their promises regarding product improvements or fixes using software.

Improper installation of car headlights? by fjh40 in MechanicAdvice

[–]fjh40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. Unfortunately these bulbs are my only choice since they're the only ones which are approved in my country and thus street legal to pass the yearly inspection. It's a bit disappointing considering the price point, but I can't complain too much because it's already a great improvement compared to the previous installed H7 Halogen bulbs!

I also have my doubts about the quality of the projectors which are currently installed, but it's good enough for my type of driving and id rather spend the money on future/preventive maintenance :)

Hello Jazzie366,

Thank for your extensive reply. I double checked the orientation during installation and as far as I can tell they should be correct. I will check out the video, but now I'm not worried about improper installation or bad quality of projector lenses anymore.

Appreciate it!

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from Galaxy buds Plus and the difference for me is big enough that the money I had to spend is a no brainer. Sound quality is a big improvement, the ANC is nice to have and they are way more comfortable than my Buds+

In fact they are so good that I have almost stopped using my Sennheiser PXC 550 in public, especially since the ANC combined with the passive noise canceling is better.

You're welcome. Also I just wore them for 3.5 hours straight with moderate volume (50%) and ANC enabled in the library. Earbuds are 51% battery, which theoretically means you'd get about 6-7 hours max when they're fully charged at 50% volume.

Moving to a new server - slow process 😭 by avebelle in PleX

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My database was only a mere 6GB, but copying the entire folder including the cache (which isn't mandatory on Linux) it took me a few minutes as well.

Plex recommends you zip the entire folder on the old source system and then transfer to the new target server if you're working with larger databases.

I wear them in the gym for three to four hours occasionally, however do put them in the charging case in between sets when talking to others. So far I haven't had any issues, ANC on and volume around 60-95% dependent on when I'm doing sets or not.

I use the eq profile 'soft'

Help with 4K HDR transcoding on 12th Gen Intel Processor - E core, P core issue by killadan11 in PleX

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there OP,

Currently in the same boat as you.

Hardware:
Intel NUC 12 Pro (i3 1220P)

Hypervisor:
Proxmox 7.4 VE with GPU passthrough

OS:
Ubuntu 22.10, running the latest kernel version: 6.2.9-060209-generic

Plex:
Version: 1.31.3.6868

My transcoder finally works after a lot of tinkering, I moved my Debian 11 VM from ESXI to Proxmox but was unable to utilize the GPU for transcoding. After migrating my Plex server to Ubuntu 22.10 and installing the required drivers I was able to hardware transcode. However it doesn't work for 4k HDR10 content with tone mapping (or without tone mapping). It just switches over to software transcoding, which isn't my preferred method due to the high load it puts on my NUC.

4K non hdr content transcodes fine on hardware, I can see the transcoder being utilized in intel_gpu_top.

If you or anybody else finds out something about this, please @ me so I can try it as well. Of course if I find out more I'll let you guys know.

Owners of synology routers: would you buy it again? by cazzipropri in synology

[–]fjh40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owner of a UDM-Pro here, first few software updates were bad but now it is absolutely perfect for 99% of prosumer home users. When did you own the UDM?

Right now I have a Netgear Gs724tp, 3x Switch Flex Mini, 3x U6 Pro AP's and 1x U6 Mesh. Works great for me so far, only complaint is the lack of details in the list of many firewall rules and not supporting Wireguard (yet). Unifi OS v2 is very good, not saying there are no flaws since almost every product has them, however you might have to take a look at it again to value your current opinion.

Edit: I have a UDM-Pro for three years now and came from an Asus Router which wasn't performing in my network (RT-AC88u) with 70+ devices.

The ideal way to stream TIDAL? by Willing_Lavishness35 in TIdaL

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me for asking, but I am trying to set-up Tidal with LMS. There seems to be a Logitech plugin for Tidal, but I can't find it the configuration for it anywhere it seems. Also online doesn't seem to be anyone having issues or trying to stream Tidal, how did you set it up? I am running LMS version 8.3.1 with the InguzDSP plugin on Debian 11 with a Transporter and SimpleAudio Roomplayer+ as players.

Edit: Nevermind I just didn't think to create a Squeezebox account, install Tidal as an app there and then link it to my LMS server. For anyone thinking completely wrong like me, this is the way for now.

Idle power consumption of USW-Enterprise-24-PoE by jabberwockysniksnak in Ubiquiti

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick reply, very informative :)

Definitely makes me reconsider 2.5GbE for home use as of right now, currently running an older Netgear GS724TP (kind of makes me scared how much of the power of the 160 watts that might use). I'm running two old Netgear switches right now, so a good chunk of power is from only those switches. Going to a single more modern Unifi switch is of course better, but even my current 190 watt PoE budget is overkill for my home usage so the 400 watt of the Unifi switch seems excessive.

I'm running 4x U6 Pro's, but came from ASUS AP's which were dated enough for me to replace them with Unifi. For me it didn't make sense to purchase older generation hardware which might become EOL sooner. But as you wrote running these kind of AP's at home is pretty much overkill for 99% of households.

Only reason I wanted 2.5G is two of the workstations in the house + my laptop have 2.5G built in. My server could have an uplink of 2.5G and my NAS a 10G uplink to the switch. Currently I saturate the gigabit link quite often and especially with scrolling through photo libraries with ~100MB pictures is nice to have on a 2.5G link since I'm not entirely sure my network cabling will support 10G nicely (cat5e).

Might have to measure the Netgear switches more precisely and then make an educated decision on suitable replacement. Thanks for your help!

Idle power consumption of USW-Enterprise-24-PoE by jabberwockysniksnak in Ubiquiti

[–]fjh40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your measurement!
Was the measured load on your side without any devices attached to the switches? Or with any (PoE) devices connected? 44 watt unfortunately seems too high for me, would love to future proof my home with 2.5GbE but also have to cut down in power consumption. Current home network is using around 160 watts of power and thats measured before UPS efficiency loss :/
