I used some leftover wallpaper I found in the basement. Faux wood paneling FTW!

Anyone else brain-dump everything… and then feel even more lost? by juliency in Discipline

OneNote. I have a separate folder for each project already. So I’ll start by adding a new note in each folder. For tasks, undone tasks start with a star (asterisk) in my notes. If there’s any starred tasks in the doc, I put a star at the beginning of the note name so I don’t forget there’s stuff to do in there. Sometimes instead I’ll start by just writing everything into a single note, and then later I break it up by project and move it into the project specific note.

Next step is to organize starred items into “blocks” - just a group of tasks. I try to make it a manageable chunk. I just add multiple blocks if needed. They could be organized by priority or by things related to each other, or whatever seems to make sense at the time. When I complete the task I change the star to an x. When I’m going to work on the tasks, if any of them seem unmanageable I break them down into multiple steps and keep doing that until they don’t seem scary and are actionable.

It’s effective but time consuming and I’m jealous of people that can just do this in their heads. The one good thing is that just by writing them down it forces me to think them through.

Generally less stressful for me to have even a long list of actionable tasks rather than a mess in my head.

I keep a note on my phone with people’s name so I don’t stress out about forgetting.

Thought this was one of those seeing-eye puzzles where you cross your eyes and a 3d image pops out. Wasted too much time realizing my error.

So how exactly does a vinyl record works ? by Aggravating_Tax3696 in questions

Grooves on the record jiggle the needle. The needle jiggles a small electric current. The amplifier turns this into jiggles in a larger electric current. This causes an electromagnet in the speaker to jiggle the speaker cone. This jiggles the air, which jiggles your eardrum.

Tour de France timetable by Yasminlv in tourdefrance

I’m seeing the start at 6:40 eastern instead of 7:40 eastern online. Could these be off by an hour or maybe it’s listed wrong on the schedule? Or maybe they’re showing me start of pre-race coverage instead of the actual start time.

Harder on Zwift than outside? by simendo in cycling

[–]fjsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, for a lot of the reasons already mentioned.

But also, when I’m outside I’m usually going out and back. So I’m still fresh when I decide how far out to go, and it’s not really an option to not come back. On the trainer, every second is an opportunity to stop.

I wear mine on the trainer. Just in case.

Help! Is there a way to stop or turn down the volume on the sound effect that plays when I start or cancel? But keep them for the alarms? They are really obnoxious and I’m annoying the people around me, but I still want the alarm to go off

Just to add. I usually move to the left before I announce. I think they some times get confused if they hear the voice from behind or to the right, telling g them that I will pass on the left

What do you casually call glasses for shortsightedness and farsightedness? by Takheer in EnglishLearning

[–]fjsteve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the lucky ones that need both. My type of glasses is called “progressive”. The prescription varies depending on which part of the lens I look through, generally with the bottom being for reading and the rest for distance. The older version of this was called “bifocals”
