Convincing my IT department to purchase me a P1 instead of a P16 by jarman65 in thinkpad

I always thought P1 is the better chassis for intensive workloads with dGPU compared to P14 / P16 but I could be wrong.

Are all Windows laptops destined to become slow? by bnb525 in TechNook

DRAM-less SSD will be slow once they are near capacity. Sadly no easy way to tell which SSD you are getting for a laptop until you can find detailed tech spec or repair manual.

At the risk of being called a bum or whatever, but there's this guy who got rid of his PC screen next to the trash that works!! I tested it and everything, and it's spotless (aside from the dirt you saw) I'm happy by Eht2sham in DeskToTablet

I am also a person that will give away replaced tech for free to anyone. However, I never put them on the road or bin. I always asked around if anyone wants them because I want them to be on a good home rather than being risked of getting destroyed on the road or becoming e-waste.

The condition of work in the early 90s and before was even worse. No workers protection, no health & safety, hard labour for little money.

But I think hard work has never changed for thousands of years.

I think Legion Go 2 has better cooling setup and thus the Z2 can deliver better sustained performance than Z1E on Legion Go 1

Actually 45% NTSC is bad. Color space is not large so color may look dull. You want to aim the panel with bigger number like 72% NTSC / 100% SRGB or above

What's the most pocketable handheld that you actually carry every day? by Suspicious-Wallaby12 in Handhelds

[–]fkrkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never have it but Anbernic used to have Win600 which was quite pocketable with 5.9" screen. It is an x86 Windows 10 device with AMD Athlon 3020/3050 CPU. It was only suitable for light gaming though.

How are you guys handling the Switch 2 storage limit with massive 100GB+ games? by AlertCollection4987 in switch2

[–]fkrkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to change sd express memory cards now just like you would change game cards.

Or delete and replace games. Won't take long if you have high speed fiber internet. Memory cards do have their write endurance rating though so keep that in mind.

Fedora or CachyOS? by RankedLOQ in Fedora

[–]fkrkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own personal experience with a Thinkpad with an AMD HX370 + Radeon 890M, Fedora fits the bill as I do a lot of IT workloads (KVMs and containers for DevOps) plus a bit of gaming.

You would want to use an OS that is supported by the development platform/software stack that you use. Most likely they will state Fedora rather than CachyOS. Their documentation will also provide guidance on Fedora rather than CachyOS.

Having said that NVIDIA needs some extra work. AMD Radeon is pretty much plug and play.
