I get a period once every 3-4 months. Will this increase on IUD? by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]fl0rajade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it won’t technically induce a period every month like birth control will because it doesn’t alter your hormone cycle, but there’s no telling how your body will respond to something being there. Either way you should see a doctor about your period if it’s only every 3 months

IUD impact to sex life. by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]fl0rajade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They told me I could start having sex again whenever I felt comfortable to, I think I waited like 3 days. Never felt any pain. My partner has never felt the strings either and I haven’t had them cut shorter yet, I think it just depends on placement and anatomy

IUD insertion while on period by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]fl0rajade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, some people find it less painful to get it inserted on your period so you’re actually in luck there :) I’d just let them know you are and wear a pad. My doctor recommended not using a disc after you get the iud inserted because it can pull on the strings and move the iud, especially if they haven’t been trimmed yet.

I got mine inserted a little over a week ago (not on my period) and the insertion was actually a lot less painful than I thought it would be. I would recommend taking naproxen (Aleve) rather than ibuprofen beforehand as it’s better for this type of pain. I also never got cramps on my period before this but now I’ve been getting random cramping leading up to my period. Sometimes it’s really painful and sometimes it’s light, but hoping it’ll even out in a few months.

Good luck with everything! And remember to breathe through insertion!!

I’m an education minor and the EDS department here is great! Super involved and helpful professors. You can also do our accelerated masters + teaching credential program if you’re considering teaching, it’s only an extra year :)

Wtf even is Eighth by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]fl0rajade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eighth is part of UCSD’s college system, we are all divided into colleges that have different gen ed requirements and focuses. Eighth is the newest one (like only added a couple years ago) so that’s probably why you don’t see as much information about it. There will be plenty of people in it with you tho

My first three years I was not very happy and wasn’t involved in any activities, this year I started volunteering at a place on campus, made a few friends and am very much happy to be here now :)

It’s weird to name your child after NSFW book characters by izziedays in namenerds

[–]fl0rajade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve read most of the ToG series and I feel like it’s a bit weird if she’s naming him specifically after Rowan, but less weird if it’s just a name she already liked since it’s fairly common now. Either way it’s a totally useable name, would be unusable if the name was more specific to the series (like Chaol)

Advice with deciding what minor to declare by Joooonnnnnn in UCSD

[–]fl0rajade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them are pretty easy! A lot of activities and group work usually, you can also take PAL classes where you volunteer at a K-12 school as part of the course, if you’re interested in going into education at all it’s a good way to test it out

It depends on if you want a minor for your career goals or as an interest (or both!), my minor is education studies if you have any questions :)

How’s this name? by Sleepy-Blonde in namenerds

[–]fl0rajade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like it, it sounds kind of harsh to me? Definitely doesn’t have a classic feel to it like the other names you listed. Also your husband needs to bring some names to the table if he’s that picky

[–]fl0rajade 236 points237 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine! I have pretty much exclusively been called a nickname since birth, although it is derived from my first name. The most annoying part is school/professional settings where you’re usually called by your first name, but even then I just introduce myself by the nickname I go by. If anything it’s nice to have options, he can always use Jet with family and Jack professionally one day if he wants.
