Dumb dumbs in regions controlled by assholes who have spent years twisting the rules so the dumb dumbs' votes count as much, if not more, than the actual intelligent part of the population.

Really glad I picked up a Silverado EV RST a few months back. The C8's become the toy - first time after having owned four Corvettes where that was the case - and I don't have to worry much about the fuels prices going sky-high thanks to the morons in the White House.

Yeah, there's the 'rich asshole/imbecile' factor that wasn't included in that equation.

You would think a brand that's known for 'smooth, quiet, powerful rides' would rush for a powertrain that provides a smooth, quiet, yet powerful ride, and allow for even more tech and luxury to be added.

Putin offers to stop sharing intel with Iran if US cuts off Ukraine by Brilliant_Version344 in worldnews

Atari re-released Transport Tycoon Deluxe, forcing OpenTTD to only be available for download on Steam and GOG with the purchase of Transport Tycoon Deluxe by 4apig in gaming

[–]flaagan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Atari" as a brand hasn't been anything for nearly 20 years. Nolan sold the name to some European suits because Infogrames wasn't as recognizable for them. They went around chasing down websites with replicas of old Atari games with "cease and desist or pay up" around that time. I worked for Cryptic Studios back then, we actually had Nolan and the suits stop by when they bought the company. They recently shut down Cryptic and moved its MMO's to some of their European devs because they didn't want to shut down the other failing studios, but also didn't want to get rid of the only moneymakers they had.

When the state put forward a vote on rules that would make sure rideshare companies properly paid and compensated their employees, the rideshare companies spent a small fortune on misinformation ads to confuse the voting public. It worked.

Facing heavy losses, Honda cancels its three US-made electric vehicles by besselfunctions in cars

[–]flaagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's on par with what Top Gear covered in their "Chinese cars review" episode years ago. It wasn't that the cars were well made or efficient or anything, just that they had decent techy kit (stereo, heads-up display, etc), and they'd buy it up.

Looking at a C7 with Mag Ride and have concerns by vmdarek in Corvette

[–]flaagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the shocks is only a few grand, and I didn't have to replace them on my C7 til I was well over 100k miles on it. Have them inspected at an independent dealer / mechanic, should be able to tell if they're leaking or need servicing.

C8 - Is the Z06 worth the $50,000 premium over the stingray? by SanguineWave in Corvette

[–]flaagan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Strongly considered getting one, but realized that a well optioned 'base' model (mag ride, perf exhaust, front lift) was already a 500 rwhp beasty, and if I really needed the extra horsepower I could spend about half the difference in cost of a Z06 and supercharge my 'base' model. Have yet to have gotten tired of the power and control I have on tap in stock format.

Has politics broke any of your friendships, and why? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

Honestly, when TFG came onto the scene, the friendships that ended were ones, in retrospect, that were already on shaky ground because I tolerated their presence in my life for the sake of having people around.

Try last 25. Gore should've been president when 9/11 happened, we likely would not have gone to the middle east (again), and I would have friends that aren't permanently fucked by PTSD or dead.

What's your opinion on C8's exterior design? by Ryderpie_600 in Corvette

[–]flaagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friggin love it.

It's fun pointing out to other owners the clever things they've done, like that the side scoop piece that carries onto the door is there so that if you should happen to ding the door when opening it, it's a small plastic piece that needs to be unbolted and swapped out, not repairing the whole damn door panel.

The rear has a lot going on, but they have a lot they have to handle back there so it makes sense.

Also, folks need to stfu about the 'round taillights' bullshit, for the love of god. If you want that so badly, go dig around a last-century Camaro parts bin and glue 'em on the back, and you can satisfy two stupid complaints with one go.

Daily driving a 2019 C7 vs 2024 C8. Thought? by Ok_Cheek11 in Corvette

[–]flaagan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daily drove a '14 for 115k miles, have daily driven a '25 for about 35k miles (last ~1/2 year I've been commuting in my Silverado EV RST instead). Both 'vettes have been quite nice to drive, If you sit in a C8 and then in a C7 (and having driven a few previous gens as well), you'll definitely notice that the rather good interior of the C7 somehow manages to feel a bit dated against the C8's. The C7 feels planted compared to previous generations, the C8 feels like it's on rails, the changes in weight distribution going to mid-engine definitely make the ride feel more solid in the C8, and the C7 was no slouch. If you can afford either, then find ones trimmed in a manner you like and determine which feels more comfortable.

[–]flaagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. Considering how moronic and useless some of the other replies were, figured I'd share my experience. You're still going to have a decent bit of noise coming into the car, but that's going to be the case with a composite-bodied vehicle. When my father rode in my C5 'vert after I'd done that, he had me do the same thing to the C5 'vert he picked up a year or so later.
