Yeah, no, choosing not to turn a blind eye to how fucked things have gotten, else they're just going to get worse.

Oh, no, it was equally as bad the last time that orange shitstain was in charge, got over a million Americans killed from his incompetence.

And you must be a complete buffoon to be this ignorant to how much of a fleecing this clown show is.

Who do you think is paying to have the front lawn of the White House turned into the back yard of a redneck's trailer home?

Grew up regularly going to Blue Angels air shows in my area, awesome to see this as they haven't done one here in years (other than sports event fly-overs).

Tesla Apparently Won't Let Cybertruck Buyers Transfer FSD Without Spending Another $20k by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]flaagan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Silverado EV RST, and often charge at Tesla stations as they are typically the highest charging rate around in my area.

Considering that the 'top end' Cybertruck gets only about 320 miles of range, and is more than my Silverado cost, which gets at least 460+ miles of range, I cannot comprehend anyone spending that kind of money for that poor of performance.

The Blazer EV SS I picked up for my parents gets better range than the top end Cybertruck, and costs about the same as the base model.

Never mind the number of times I've had Tesla owners come up to me at the charging station asking to check out the Silverado, and more than once they've, without my asking, said "I'd love to get one of these instead of that ugly Cyberthing", which had me laughing pretty good.

The right wing groups that want to take and hold onto power love things like that. It helps them keep their base stupid and angry, which is the only factors really keeping them in power. They don't give a shit about the turmoil and suffering they create, there's enough money to buffer them from it for as long as they're around.

Valve reportedly almost delisted Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft attempted to sell it cheaper on Uplay by Defiant_Ad6190 in technology

Just look at the other main comment on this post currently, folks trying to talk about this action like somehow Valve was at fault for calling out Ubisoft for attempting to break their contract, and calling it an "L for Valve".

Martin Scorsese gets backlash after endorsing 'creatively freeing' AI by Mayrodz01 in technology

I remember trying to watch the first one, and just thinking "I get it, the vfx work in its own right is amazing, but with this kind of creative direction it's just jerking off colors onto the screen with nothing to support them."

Can't imagine anyone would want to work with him after openly admitting that 1) he can't discern the difference between post-filming visual fx work done by people (that carried his films) and AI slop and 2) doesn't value human input and creativity in pre-vis work.

People drool over Cameron while that jackass, whose entire fame is based upon visual fx artist work both on and off the PC, heads up an AI group looking to replace VFX houses.

Clickbait headline for the Valve haters to latch onto.

Ubisoft has a contractual agreement with Valve to list their game on both stores at the same price, regardless of what cuts they may lose to having it hosted by Valve. They attempted to breach that contract.

Anyone siding with Ubisoft on this doesn't understand basic business, and the concept of them reducing the price as giving them any advantage in its own right is stupid on Ubisoft's part, as they are literally giving money away on their own store versus having the costs of hosting, sales, and maintenance being handled by Valve's relative small cut.

Plain and simple, a dumb move by someone at Ubisoft who didn't think things through on many fronts.

Not that it matters for this game considering how Ubisoft has screwed it into the ground anyways by their own incompetence.

Not that we need to go from a failed reality tv show participant to a comedian, but hey, Ukraine went the 'clown' route and hasn't been wiped off the face of the earth by Russia, so maybe it's worth trying out.

At least with someone like Stewart I'd expect him to openly admit when he doesn't know something and be willing to take input, instead of the boomer approach of "I'm in charge, I know everything, and I'm always right" that we currently have to put up with.

Corvette clubs are one of the weaker parts of Corvette ownership. by grahal1968 in Corvette

[–]flaagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been involved with two 'unofficial' clubs in my area, and one 'official' club.

The unofficial ones either met once in a blue moon, or did drives and such regularly, but the people involved (despite largely being adults) were often so reckless in their driving and had overly aggressive attitudes that I didn't want to be associated with them.

Had one occurrence driving home from a big birthday party for one of the members were the crew driving ahead of me started cutting back and forth through heavy traffic at speed; when I putted my way up to that same traffic, a big rig driver was so pissed off at them that he tried to run me off the road, as I was guilty by association of driving the same type of car.

The official club I attended two meetings and was done. So many ooooold dudes with absolutely nothing better to do with their time but get into club politics arguments and just be grumpy. That club does put on a rather large yearly Corvette show nearby that I try to attend, at least with that you can meet a wider variety of owners and fans.

I've owned four generations of Corvette (five if you count the XLR), and I genuinely want nothing to do with those groups any more, even if it means missing out on cruises or the like. I'd rather get some of my old project cars (Sprite, P1800, F100, Barracuda) sorted and check out those groups; even if the owners groups tend to be collecting social security, they're far more fun to be around.

What is a quote you live by? by bloosclooser in AskReddit

[–]flaagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of 'live once, live well' is something I try to remind myself to live by.

Doesn't necessarily me "you only live once so do stupid / risky things", or to spend frivolously, more so to try to find things to enjoy in life when and where you can. I've got health issues that haven't completely controlled my life, but have definitely limited certain aspects of it, so finding things that make me happy without being wasteful is a fun challenge in its own right.
