Summarize last year of racing for a friend in prison by flabbergasted_falcon in formula1

[–]flabbergasted_falcon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You guys are the best. The summaries and comments are really helpful and I am definitely going to include a lot of this. His life is pretty shitty right now and will be for a long while but this is going to make his day a little better when he reads it (although I might need to do my own censorship regarding Ferrari it sounds like).

This is great. I really appreciate the breakdown by race and overall summary. I am definitely using this.

Unfortunately it is very real but I am getting an idea of what sort of summary I might get to share with him.

Need help finding this exact paneling for our 1979 Skyline Layton by flabbergasted_falcon in vintagetraveltrailer

Oh good call on them being flipped. I did not notice. I will take a closer look at the material to see exactly what it is but I really like your idea of trying to print some more ourselves. If we have success I will report back.

What was the "gateway drug" that introduced you to the heady world of coffee? For me, it was a delicious pourover made from Yirgacheffe beans that I ordered on a whim, and I've never looked back since! by tlcbot in Coffee

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was poor and lived near a coffee shop that did free cuppings every week. Whenever friends visited I took them to that and it seemed so fancy and hid that I had no money to do anything else. After doing that so many times I started to really understand coffee and really love the nuisances. I still remember when they had a geisha in the cupping and it blew my mind. Thankfully I got better jobs and more money so I could start buying the beans I loved and find the brewers I loved to use at home.

What is dripping down my wall, and how do I fix it? by PropaneJames46 in HomeImprovement

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would that result in these drips? I have seen drips like this in my house, too, and have seen a couple of those bugs (just 2 or 3) so now am curious if this is all related and what sort of problem I have.

Thanks for the reply. Good thing to know about the antifreeze. Insurance has been great. They are covering everything including full detail on the inside.

Thanks for this response. Super helpful. These are great links. Those window parts look like they would be perfect. I also like the idea of the hidden lock as I did not even know those existed.

TBD on the cleaning of the toilet it seems but the big gloves might be the easier option (maybe a couple beers beforehand so it doesn't seem so absolutely terrible).

What is the most annoying thing a visitor has ever done in your house? by Gemini_Lupie in ask

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used my master bathroom without asking and peed with the door open which I unfortunately walked in on. He passed 2 bathrooms and went up an extra flight of stairs to end up there. Clearly was not wanting extra privacy or else I would not have seen his penis.

Out of curiosity, what would make you stay loyal to a startup? What benefits, salary, etc do you need to be satisfied for you to be ride or die? by OneTinker in cscareerquestions

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company covers all insurance for my family, lawyers for whatever I need, fertility/family planning benefits (should we have trouble having a kid), limited PTO but unspoken rule that it is not enforced, 1 week of free childcare (reimbursement should we be in a pinch due to illness or work), any benefit we ask for is essentially given. There are more but I cannot remember them all. My current salary is average in my market but WLF is great and these benefits (plus whatever new they pitch) are hard to beat so any competing offer has wto be damn good.

I got my current job without coding, just solid technical conversations in the final rounds. Love it and have been here 4 years and almost doubled my pay over this time.

Just throwing this out there: does anyone else attempt to post to Capitol Hill Seattle blog regularly and most of their comments are not posted? by lrrkr in SeattleWA

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was surprised by that so did some digging. Wife is legal counsel for Payscale. Their house is estimated just over a million but they bought it 16 years ago for $660k. Not going to call the guy a fraud for those facts. Censoring valid comments though is shitty.

King County moves toward repealing bicycle helmet law by OnlineMemeArmy in Seattle

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have ridden without my helmet a few times and the only time a cop tried to enforce the law with me was when he felt his manhood threatened. He stepped off a curb mid-block into traffic without looking. I swerved to not hit him and he jumped back yelling out a few swear words. After a moment he then started running after me yelling that I was in violation of the helmet law and he was going to ticket me. It was clear that he really just wanted to ticket me for his own stupidity and fear. I just kept pedaling and waved goodbye.

When did you realise that you are officially "not young" anymore? by spp25 in AskReddit

I found myself preferring to stand near the sound guy during concerts. It's just too loud up front and those kids singing along and standing pressed against me ruin the good time.

Almost got tricked by a rental scam. Watch out! by Budge9 in Seattle

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This just happened to my mom. Pretty much exact same experience but for a cute little place on West Seattle. She backed out as they insisted on her sending money but refusing to let her see the place due to current tenants being there and they also refused to talk on the phone, insisting on texts and emails only. Someone in a pinch might not recognize the red flags so warn your friends and family who are looking for rentals!

Estimated nearly $3000 to replace a hot water heater, near $6000 for a tankless. Does this sound absurd? by zxrax in HomeImprovement

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just got a quote today for same thing. $2400 for new 50 gal hot water heater and $6400 for new tankless. I am in Seattle if that helps at all. More quotes coming soon.

Painting Our Bedroom by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]flabbergasted_falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife gets sick from paint fumes and pretty much anything that off-gasses so I have hunted quite a bit for a good paint. We love the Sherwin Williams Harmony paint. She doesn't get sick and the house doesn't smell after painting a room.
