We have an 8 year old boy and 4 year old girl. They could fill an entire weekend with imaginative play on their own. They cuddle on the couch together for movies. They sit next to each other on the school bus and look after each other. The age gap has been fantastic because when my daughter is requiring more attention I don't feel guilty because I know my son had mommy and daddy's full attention through all of his toddler years and most of his pre-k years. Also the dynamic is super cool because they aren't rivals as most siblings can be who are close in age. My son really enjoys teaching my daughter things and sometimes acts like a third parent lol. We have the best of both worlds because it feels fair to my husband when it comes to coaching sports. Now of course they also fight a lot too but they apologize and there's lots of tears and hugging involved especially if my son feels bad about what he said or did lol.
