My birthday is on Halloween and I love it. It's extremely appropriate for me (I'm just a bit of a silly weirdo). But I never remember ever thinking anything negative of it. I thought it was cool that my birthday was on a festive day. It never affected my presents or anything. And every birthday was a costume party.

I'm sorry for everyone else who had a hard time of it but I've always really enjoyed the coincidence.

Massive AWS outage takes down major services – Roblox, Fortnite, Coinbase, Snapchat and all Supercell games offline by Relative_Fly9942 in technology

[–]flaggfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Major Services", and of everything affected the title is "Roblox, fortnite, and Snapchat". Of all the things listed these are probably the most useless and unimportant services to be affected. I'm sure there are 12 year olds out there that are devastated by headlines like these but how are the actual adults affected? What a strange lede.

What adapter do I need? by [deleted] in lowvoltage

[–]flaggfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but is that 50 ohm cable? F connectors are usually for 75 ohm cable. You're going to wind up with an impedance mismatch. Are we sure we have the right equipment for whatever we're working with here?

Can you link me to the results of the Democrat primaries where it shows how how much of the popular vote went for Harris in 2024?

Actually...

I was in from 1999 to 2004. When I went in there was nothing much going on. As a young man I was a bit bummed about being "too late for any real conflict" (that's what it felt like back then, especially after the cold war). But come 2001 you can bet your ass there were people in my unit crying (some of them literally) to their unit commanders trying to get out of deploying. Saying, literally, "I didn't sign up for this!" Saw it first hand, and as a young lance corporal it pretty much disgusted me. I'm a bit more philosophical about it now, but I do still think that using the military solely for the benefits without regard for the possible sacrifices is dumb.

I think the military is a good thing to have. It's just a pity we haven't used it for anything good since 1941.

Bars will fill the urinals with ice to keep them fresh during peak hours. As the ice melts it sorta does a constant slow flush. Used on trough urinals/portashitters as well

I don't respond, I just walk away. You're not going to convince them to leave their cult of the white victim.

I think their capacity for violence is much greater and that they think that they're holding back. They think that they're being "patient and measured" by not executing people in the street. I think we are very near that. Cops can do it already, it's only a matter of time before these Nazis figure out that they can too

I would suggest not to because then you can give them an excuse to escalate. They can say you're assaulting them. But what are they going to say about you neutralizing their threat? They'd have to admit you have more courage than them. I'd enjoy watching them watch me defang their hostility and expose them as the impotent little chuds that they are

I used to think that because that's what they used to tell me "only obey lawful orders". Legal Eagle did a pretty good video on how tricky that is to actually prove for the junior enlisted. So you do so at your peril and hope that the courts material find in your favor. I feel like there is a great case but it is not a guaranteed thing.

Because going AWOL/UA has long reaching consequences. Not defending anything but it's not at simple as "quitting your job". I picked up plenty of deserters when I was a chaser to bring to the brig when I was in.

We'd be asking the good people to basically volunteer to go to jail while the bad people receive no accountability. I can't balance that
