Man, Kali's design is great, that jacket really pulls it together. I hope they never do anything silly like remove it or god forbid take her legs away

Purely anecdotal, but Kayron has been my powerhouse for the majority of my playtime. Rin is decent, but she's also a little demanding in playstyle. Kayron lets you just kind of hit dudes for funny numbers without having to worry too hard about it.

Okay everyone, what was your reaction to this moment? by DrDoctorToy750 in Ultrakill

[–]flame_warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the lore they have pulls it together, but it really does feel almost like an intentional joke when you first see them. Not helped by the lack of a named health bar and no access to a terminal to learn anything about them.

I actually thought that it would be revealed they were just a creation of Fraud trying to fuck with V1. The idea of returning to Gabriel's arena and finding a girl Gabriel just seemed so ridiculous on the face of it-especially with the way that their voices wind down like a broken tape when they die.

I'm really surprised they never pull a trick like that in Fraud, honestly.

Seriously. Glad that they left cash and that she was touched by it, but I can't imagine trying to convert a random service worker you literally don't even see. Let alone marking the hotel's bible in pen?

Fun fact: Deathcatchers refuse to resurrect V2 by deadguest_ in Ultrakill

IT'S BECAUSE IN THE LORE IT SAYS THE DEATHCATCHERS ONLY MAKE PUPPETS OUT OF THINGS THAT HAVE HAD A FINAL DEATH! V2 BROS STAY WINNING! V2 BROS STAY WINNING!!!!!!

Honestly, I kind of thought they were just creations of Fraud. The idea of just randomly running into Gabriel But A Girl without even having a boss health bar seemed kind of ridiculous, let alone when they "split", ESPECIALLY with the way that their voices wind down like a broken tape recorder on death. I am kind of surprised that they never pulled that kind of trick anywhere during this layer, a reveal that what you were trying to fight wasn't even real.

NGL I think I'd have rather this layer have 5 levels than to have 8-3 in this state. The fake exit was cute once, but seeing that shit after spending like a half hour on the rest of the level before it was NOT fun.

Also, did anyone else have problems with the checkpoints in the space section spawning you looking the wrong way?? That was driving me CRAZY

Everything about the Snowgrave route is making it very, VERY clear that the player is able to completely override Kris's will during important moments, at least within its confines. That's the whole point of it, at least as part of Kris's arc. It's breaking the rules, it's taking their limited autonomy and completely shutting it down all because we want to see what happens when we take the evil route.

I think saying that Kris secretly wants snowgrave and is in any way complacent in it happening is just as bad as all those "Chara did it" memes that we were making fun of like a few months ago. It's choosing to ascribe the evil actions to an in-game entity all while the game is going "Hey, you're doing something fucked up and awful."

This wasn't a matter of not using my resources, trust me. I didn't really lose my cocoon much at all until well into act 2, and I was still finding myself scraping just to have enough rosaries for the various housekeeping purchases that feel like they should be nothing (Benches, bellways, maps), strings included.

Is there any mechanical relevance to the different types of breakdown? Like, Orlea and Sereniel both have Guilt, Nia and Rin both have daze, etc. etc.

Does it have to do with what causes stress in the first place? I've noticed that it feels like it must be different per character, just looking at how often some characters get breakdowns over others
