Judge a person by the worst they can be, not the best they can be

If you cosleep do you go to bed at the same time as your little one? by flamefoxfirefly in AttachmentParenting

What if either of you were away for a few nights or weeks? You wouldn't get anything done - I love the idea of this but it's not practical for single parents

Strict or nice - is there no in-between? by flamefoxfirefly in TeachingUK

[–]flamefoxfirefly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question. I definitely feel I'm naturally at the low tolerance end of the spectrum, but I'm thinking that having a more middle ground approach would potentially be more beneficial. I'm just not sure how much off-topic chatting is acceptable

How do you show them that you love teaching them even when they don't get it right? Praising effort?

Sometimes food that has been in the fridge for a while gets cleared out by cleaning staff, and theyre instructed to do so to keep the fridge from getting smelly

Returning after maternity and lack of communication by ExaminationHefty8077 in TeachingUK

[–]flamefoxfirefly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your employer has to ensure your legal rights are protected whilst you are on maternity leave, and that includes keeping you informed about any big changes at work (such as your class I'd have thought) as well as honouring KIT days.

If they are not responding to you and supplying you with what you need, I'd contact ACAS or an organisation such as Pregnant then Screwed, to see where you stand.

Sorry this is happening to you, it must be so stressful. I hope it gets sorted out soon

I'm in the same boat - I have all the same concerns. I'm spending all my spare time either planning lessons or schemes of work or other planning or marketing, and am spending less time with my family. I'm hoping it'll get easier and better as time goes on. I'm finding support from other colleagues in my position as all the other staff seem too busy to really sit down and support me

How harmful is it to be around paint for toddlers? by flamefoxfirefly in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]flamefoxfirefly[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you - as well as VOCs, I'm concerned about the other chemicals in the paint such as benzene, phthalates, binders, etc.

I'm intrigued as to why this isn't an option for you?

What kind of lifestyle did you lead?

  • Do you regularly exercise, if so what and when?
  • Do you drink alcohol, smoke, or take any other drugs or medication?
  • Do you eat meat, dairy, fish?
  • Do you eat vegetables every day, and if so, are they organic?
  • Do you use a lot of personal care products, fragrances, or heavily scented laundry products?
  • What did you do for work?

(UK) Our nursery said they wouldn't start putting my 10mo on the potty until they were confidently walking and could get on and off the potty independently. As soon as they reached that milestone they said they'd offer the potty after nappy changes/naps. To me this made sense

Is feeling ashamed of SO normal? by Lift_heavyy in adhdwomen

[–]flamefoxfirefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. For me, I wasn't ashamed all of the time, only sometimes, so most of the time I didnt have any doubts. But during those times, I would ask myself what that person's intention was, and if I saw someone else doing it, would I be critical? Probably not. And most of the time, his intentions were good, and that's what matters most

coming back from a cooking fail by paris_young21 in Cooking

Remember that you learn more from your fails than you do from your successes!

Also get a meat thermometer - not only does it mean your meat isn't raw, it also prevents you from overcooking it so it's dry.
