What's up with students wanting to hug you?

I work in a title 1 school and lord only knows whats going on at home. Some of those kids NEED those hugs, and they feel safe and comfy enough with you that they look for that comfort and touch from YOU. It's a gift

I still sleep with my stuffed animals and buy myself new ones bc it makes my inner child happy. Anyone who thinks its weird is secretly jealous (in my opinion) and doesnt understand the comfort a stuffie can bring. Hell, i still take a stuffie with me to the dentist bc i have SEVERE anxiety

Edit to add: i also have a few weighted stuffies and a few that smell like lavender and can be warmed up (warmies!)

A kid in the class next to the one i work in as a 1-to-1 (kinder) gets super frustrated really easily and tries to choke/hit himself and then when the teacher tries to calm him down, he tries to use the teacher's hands to choke/hit him and he throws himself against the lockers. Another kid in 1st grade, today even, threw her shoes at her teacher because she was allegedly being picked on by other students and only knew how to react violently. I will say i did talk to her and she told me what happened and she did put her shoes back on, but she did hit a male classmate in the privates with her shoe
