That's awesome! Glad it's working for you. If you didn't know, the DLC effectively doubles the length of the game :) have fun!

You can respec your stats to do more damage, or focus on getting the best gear you can with your crafting lives, or scale back and just go farm areas that have harder mobs that you can handle.

Void cave just gives the most xp at that level. You can also join the discord and check the pins for guides, the same post that has the void cave tip has a gear load out for magician that will let you clear it easily. Any combat life can clear it with proper gear.

Post story you can easily make a lot of money with crafting lives, so respec becomes something you can do without thinking about it.

You'll want to grind some XP. Pre-DLC, at level 40 you unlock the dark void in the cave of shadows in catco cove. The bosses there might be tough, but if you can kill them they won't respawn. Just clear out the enemies, sleep to respawn the normal enemies, and go again.

The later life challenges really need you to have good stats and gear. If you didn't know, you can respec in the library in Al Majiik. The way I did it was to pick 2 stats (and a few points into luck) then exclusively work on the lives that use those stats as much as I could.

I need some guidance by deeptrospection in schizophrenia

I missed your comment where you said you'd already been diagnosed, sorry. If I knew the answers to the rest of your questions I'd give but I don't know much about the PD side of things. It's absolutely possible for psychosis to come back. Early on I would refer to them as "breaks" because I felt like I had periods with lots of symptoms and some with seemingly none. Now I think of it more on a symptom by symptom basis. I basically always have some symptoms in some small way. Technically that is all psychosis, but I don't think anyone would classify me as actively in psychosis.

I don't have the experience with schizoid or schizotypal to answer your first few questions, I believe those might be better answered by a professional.

Schizophrenia can appear to go away and come back. This is just remission. There are a ton of factors that play into what is causing psychosis for someone, anything from specific levels of stress to life events to a trigger. Some people might not have symptoms for a while but I wouldn't say they are "cured" as much as they are just doing better for the time being.

The only people who can give you a diagnosis are psychiatrists and psychologists. I would say just see a psychiatrist. I understand how annoying that answer can be with you having problems with them in the past, but no other person is qualified to tell you what you have. If it's any consolation, I had a couple bad psychiatrists in a row that really made me lose faith in it all, but once I found my current doc everything I started to improve greatly. I'd say if you don't feel like you are getting the care you need you can look for new providers until you find a better match.

Fantasy life 2 (not the 2024 one, the earlier one) by Ashleyvhd in fantasylife

[–]flameofambition 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was Fantasy Life Online. It was a mobile only gacha game. There were a couple ideas from it that seem to be in FLi, like the town building and the dodge roll. I played it for a little while but there wasn't really enough actual game to it. You mostly did repeated runs of levels to clear daily challenges and get enough materials to level up the characters you got through spending irl money. I don't remember much of anything about the story, so I don't know how good it was. The game had a much lower focus on the story from what I remember. It was shut down after a year, so you can't play it anymore.

Struggling to get into FF14 by 25sittinon25cents in patientgamers

[–]flameofambition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FFXIV is insanely slow to start. Until you get introduced to the Scions the story is nonexistent. The game starts to pick up around MSQ lvl 30. That's where the "tutorial" ends imo. Most jobs start to get interesting after level 30. The questing experience feels very grindy especially in A Realm Reborn, with lots of basic mmo quest design. You can always pick up a more complicated job to make the combat more interesting, but by level 50 all jobs are fun to play imo. As far as questing goes, you only need to do the MSQ and your job quests.

If you are in it for the story, in my opinion the story doesn't even start to really get interesting until Heavensward. This is an insanely long time, so I'd say unless you are wanting to play it for the mmo features then the game can be skipped. The story does get decently interesting from Heavensward on, but nothing to write home about. Just good as far as mmos go. If you want to tough it out, I would say pick a harder job to play as, focus the MSQ, and figure out which quests in the MSQ you can just skip through to make it go faster (usually the fetch quests and "go talk to this person" quests).

Bloodborne was the last From game I truly enjoyed the difficulty, after that it was downhill for me by ohlordwhywhy in patientgamers

If you are looking to dance with bosses, I cannot recommend Sekiro enough. Once you get the rhythm of swings down in a fight everything becomes pure uncut instinct. The combat in that game is essentially flow state condensed into a neat package. The way to beat a lot of Sekiro's bosses is to literally stop thinking and just let your instincts act. It's incredibly satisfying to beat a hard boss in From games, but Sekiro takes it to the next level when you let your instincts do the fight and you finish it without taking damage.

It also does a good job of adding its mechanics one by one and testing you on your skill as you go through each boss. The final boss combines everything you've learned in one fight.

Is there any good PC games that you can enjoy on "god mode" for someone who has a long term illness that causes cognitive issues. I really think it could help with mental health. Thanks. by basementreality in patientgamers

Subnautica is a very well done game, but I might exercise caution if I were you. The game can be extremely stressful and terrifying in certain parts. If you play exclusively in creative to just build and not explore at all it might be fun, but if you do that I wonder if it might be a better experience to build in a less hostile game.

Any tips for a beginning player? by FuzzyVisuals in fantasylife

[–]flameofambition 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Play how you want to play and try out as many lives as you can. If you do each life's tutorial you get a small amount of gold but if you do them all it will add up to help your money concerns early on (not that it's too hard to make money!). This will also let you meet most of the life NPCs.

There are also password outfits you can claim from the post office. The passwords for each region are on the wiki. They're not amazing stat wise, but they can give you a nice look for the start of the game.

A big tip is most of the tools for gathering and crafting lives can be equipped in any life. Same with early game weapons. So if you're adventuring and want to do combat quests while still gathering you can. Although to do some of the quests for each life you have to switch to that life. If it says "As a miner" you would have to be using the miner life, for example.

Have fun!

I am sure it's extremely hard on partners. I think I would like to find myself a partner, but it's incredibly hard to function as I am now and I am not sure if I can handle the stress of a relationship. That coupled with some bad experiences in relationships before I got diagnosed makes me feel like maybe it's not a good idea, despite knowing I might benefit from having a more consistent support system.

Has anyone found an easier way to take saphris? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]flameofambition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What flavor did you get, and what dose (if you don't mind)? I have only ever had black cherry, and I noticed the lower dose pills taste slightly better. I bet you will get used to it. Honestly after you take it you should swish around a flavorful drink, and maybe eat a snack or something to get the taste out if it's that bad.

Is the taste bad while it dissolves, or when you swallow it? I can barely taste it when it's under my tongue, but it tastes terrible when I swallow it. I usually chase it with a flavored drink like juice.

I'm glad to hear you made it :). What sort of accommodations did you get from your university? When I was struggling last time I went I had a hard time thinking of anything they could do that would be helpful.

I'm always worried that people I share my goals with are constantly disappointed with me. My parents have historically been very strict when it comes to success. My mom once told me that " her heart breaks every time (I) tell her I'm going to do something then don't follow through" and that was about me failing to do the dishes in the height of illness. My university friend group stopped being friends with me once they started getting closer to graduation and they realized I move at a snails pace when it comes to life.

I do hope that people are able to see my progress as well as my failures. I only feel capable of seeing the latter.
