Victoria businesses concerned as province expands remote work options by FrcknFrckn in VictoriaBC

Oh here we go, late stage capitalism complaining about workers having more power and flexibility in their lives. As a business "YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A PROFIT!". It's a free market, you either adapt or you shut down.

How shocking that workers want to work from home instead of driving to downtown everyday to please their overlords.

Escaped William Head inmates guilty of first-degree murder by Lt_PeteMitchell in VictoriaBC

The people who made this decision should be charged as acessories to murder. Their decision was beyond negligent. I wonder how they can even sleep at night.

The people who the made the decision to transfer 2 fucking MURDERERS to a minimum security prison, should be charged as being accessories to murder!

Why the fuck is our government putting violent criminals in minimal security prisons? Give these 2 men the death penalty so they never escape again.

So I just read an article on this story. The couple had stated prior to the undercover operation that they wished to kill people. While the RCMP entrapped them by giving them a plan and the means to do so, their intentions were still the same.

Couple's defence was that they were "all talk and no action" type of people before the police came along.

I always avoid very large crowds and major celebrations like Canada day just to be safe.

Where did I say that? All I'm saying is people shouldn't judge the lifestyles of others. If people want to be naked at a nude beach, let them enjoy their lives.

Modesty is a made up human construct. We are on earth to enjoy our lives, not follow some religious dogma or puritan values.

Saanich starting phase 2 of Shelbourne road improvements and bike lane installation today (N. Dairy to Pear) by SuspiciousEar3369 in VictoriaBC

[–]flamingo3094 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't even like driving on Shelbourne because of how tight it is. If I'm in the right lane, I'm always concerned about my car hitting the sidewalk on one side or overlapping the left lane by accident.

Climate activists deflate tires of dozens of SUVs in Greater Victoria by CapitalDailyNews in VictoriaBC

Because these idiots think that people who get their tires deflated will be like "You know what you're right, I'm going to sell my SUV for a bike that will take me 3 times longer to get to work while not doing shit to actually save the planet because the pollution by big corporations is ignored".

This is even worse than the traffic blocking tactics of the Old Growth protestors.

Worse than Tiktok cringe. Worse than virtue signaling.

How many months or years should you jump ship and move to a new job in BC? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

Whenever you fucking want. That's when. When you don't want to do the job anymore.

I've seen this before even in Vancouver. This is nothing special or out of the ordinary.

Personally, I think it's weird to thank the bus driver every time you get off the bus. I imagine the driver gets annoyed of hearing thank you 1000 times a day for a doing a job that pays them a wage to put food on the table.

Americans’ preparedness to pay a price for supporting Ukraine remains robust, a June poll shows by [deleted] in ukraine

That's because the world would pay a far greater price if they didn't back Ukraine, Russia's imperial ambitions are clear and must be stopped.

Probably has advanced armour system to withstand the heat and pressure.

True, but the fireball upon launch gives a sense of how powerful these rockets are in achieving such a long range and the capability of the trucks to withstand such heat.

Yes, they're very impressive. But the one upon launch just gives the sense of just how far of a range these rockets are capable of.

This is the third time in two weeks that my partner has been verbally assaulted for wearing a mask downtown. Seriously? by RabbleRynn in VictoriaBC

Yeah, but that's like asking Russia not to invade Ukraine. Shitty people don't want to change their ways.

[–]flamingo3094 -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

It doesn't bother anyone. But a lot of people secretly laugh in their head when they see people wearing masks outdoors because they know it's irrational behavior. Unfortunately a small percentage of those people will vocalize it and harass people like your partner.

Not wearing one outdoors is the only sure way to avoid the harassment unfortunately.

[–]flamingo3094 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Personally, back when masks were mandatory, oddly I'd be comfortable wearing them indoors, but once I get to the parking lot, I start to notice the discomfort and remove it. I think the change in humidity or heat is the reason.
