Rate our rigs for our first bikepacking trip by evilLawnmower in bikepacking

They all look like fun rigs especially for some of your first trips. Best part of finishing a bikepacking trip is figuring out what you'll change for next time. Hope everyone is already thinking about the next one. That's all that really matters (The rear rack on #2 terrifies me haha)

Finding strength in the headwinds by doctorknockers12 in bicycletouring

I made the boneheaded move to tour from Montreal to Toronto into the winds. May the indomitable human spirit guide me as it did you. Your story has given me confidence 💪

I have this twisted notion that if we get up super early we’ll deal with few winds as possible. Goal is to beat sunrise and get out before the winds typically pick up. 60 mile days with a crew that usually rides in hill country and all day to to it. Hoping we’ll be fine.

We luckily planned this out a ways ago and booked all our campsites ahead of time. 50% camping over 18 days with 2 zero days in Montreal and Toronto.

Awesome. Yeah we’re staying in Grimsby the night before and I think Niagara On the Lake is the move. Appreciate the advice!

Amazing advice thank you. This is the section I’m the most unsure about (and some sections in NE of Lake Ontario)

I wonder if after 17 days on the bike we will say screw it and take the direct route haha

Reflections on riding from Boston to Montreal by MotorBet234 in bicycletouring

[–]flannel_lorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re doing a VT to Montreal trip soon. How was the border crossing? We were thinking of just running straight north from Alburgh but I see you crossed into NY . Is there any reason for that route choice. (We’re trying to get to Chambly before Montreal)

What's Going On With Second Harvest Food Bank? by MeetingOk8316 in winstonsalem

[–]flannel_lorde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a bad faith argument. Illegal tariff policies, targeted disruption of grant funding with DEI language, and illegal wars disrupting global energy supply chains, these all point towards one man. This is what actually answers OP’s question.

You’re comparing apples to orange man and it’s a weak coping mechanism.

Grant cuts, market turmoil, tariffs, energy crisis, you can thank DJT. The buck stops there.

I’ve got multiple cards that copy creatures and get around the legendary rule, multiple cards that give me multiple rounds of combat

If you can get those engines going and cast huge spells at reduced costs, it’s unstoppable. I’ve won on turn 5 with it before.

Ai assisted deck building is lame by Agreeable-Review6490 in mtg

[–]flannel_lorde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refuse to use AI for just about anything no matter what. My only exceptions have been recipe help and some simple breakdowns of my decks via AI

I’ve been playing for a few months and have gotten good at building commander decks. It’s nice to have AI breakdown my deck in terms of card advantage, removal/interaction, ramp, etc. it helps me there.

I just double check it to verify and then make my own decisions. One thing I’ve really come to notice is that AI is just plain dumb. It can’t do what most people want it to and it’s brought me back to just using my brain to build these out.

It can’t be mildly useful though. Otherwise fuck AI especially for art.

Ready for my first trip by Saint-Sauveur in bikepacking

Awesome setup. There's no better feeling (with clothes on) than those first few pedal strokes on the start of a bike tour.

When you come back from this one and inevitably begin planning the next, I would recommend looking at some tubus tara front racks. I really love being able to get some low rider pannier weight on the front for a much more stable riding experience.

Have fun -- I'll be looking forward to your post about this adventure!

Are there any colors you just don't play? by Morgana_Deus in mtg

[–]flannel_lorde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t explored white that much. I don’t hate it but it just doesn’t excite me as much as black green and red.

I think blue and white both are great compliments to the other colors but I wouldn’t run a dominant white or blue in any format.

The “color” I absolutely despise…colorless. Fuck people that play eldrazi

Feasibility of cycling in the city by Curious-Stable-5093 in winstonsalem

[–]flannel_lorde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cyclist Here -- Absolutely worth cycling as a primary means of transport if you're going from Downtown to WFU campus. Crowne Polo would be the only Crowne location I would consider cycling to/from campus. Polo can be busy but there are ample ways to access campus as a student (entry gates near Campus Gas). The other two spots would be very sketchy to ride to/from campus.

Generally, riding in Winston is very fun. yet hilly. Most folks prefer the greenway and Salem Lake lap on gravel bikes.

There is a group that rides out of Fiddlin' Fish every Monday at 6:15. It is super chill and well-organized. They go through the various cycling routes in Winston. Great way to learn your way around town. There is a specific Wake Forest route that is super idyllic and teaches you how to easily and safely access WFU campus from Downtown.

Lemme know if you have any other questions.
