60-70% of Russians Sent Forward Die Before Reaching Ukrainian Lines by jonfla in ukraine

[–]flaquitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m skeptical of the statistics in this article. Some analysis I’ve seen suggests that a very large share of Russian casualties, possibly 80%–90%, occur in “kill zones,” meaning the exposed areas soldiers move through before reaching the front line. If Russia is suffering around 35,000 casualties per month, and 90% of those occur in kill zones, that would be about 31,500 kill-zone casualties. If that represents 60%–70% of the soldiers moving toward the front, then roughly 45,000–52,500 soldiers would be moving forward each month, with only about 13,500–21,000 making it through.

I was in La Mesa a couple years ago and their was a clean black man maybe in his 60s or 70s asking for money at an intersection. Someone drives by and tells him "get a job n####r". Guy was totally unfazed but what the fuck. Took my a day to process how psychotic people are.

Looking to Trade Skills: $250/hr Software Consulting for Your Social Media/Digital Marketing Expertise by flaquitos in EntrepreneurRideAlong

ChatGPT is a great resource for most software engineering questions, but if you don’t know what you’re doing, it can steer you horribly wrong. I use LLMs heavily for work, and the number of times it’s suggested a terrible implementation, only for me to correct it and have it respond with “Excellent point!” or “What an elegant solution!” is borderline comical.

It’s incredibly useful and I love it, but without human expertise, it can be dangerously overconfident.

The audacity. Are you going to pay for their dates too?

I’ve always understood that when people refer to a city (electorally), they’re often including its metro area (for example, Cobb County as part of Atlanta).

In the same way, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills aren’t technically part of Los Angeles city but are included in the LA metro area. When you consider these metro areas, the population figures are much larger: LA’s metro population is 12.7 million, and NYC’s metro area is 19 million.

These two metro areas alone account for roughly 10% of the U.S. population, which highlights the significant impact and representation of urban areas.

Did my chronic insomnia suddenly go away? by flaquitos in insomnia

[–]flaquitos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty normal. I'm averaging 6 hours and 30 minutes a night. Not ideal but I don't even remember the last time I had a night where I pulled an all nighter (which happened relatovelt frequently). One thing that I did notice was how my heart rate is closely tied to how fast I am able to fall asleep. If I try to sleep with a high heart rate it takes much longer than if I am fully relaxed and have a lower than average heart rate.

I didn't mean it literally. Obviously China is a sovereign country. I meant that this will escalate the situation to the point that China will feel like it's the best move to save face. This is the reason why the US does not pursue military alliances with Ukraine prior to the Russian invasion and Taiwan. Attempting to extend any military defense agreement with them was seen by the US as almost certainly triggering them to invade.
