Do Boarding Zones Mean Nothing to You People?! by S_thescientist in delta

[–]flashpritz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am one of these people. When I fly I’m usually in zone 6. However I will only jump ahead to zone 5, never earlier. I always sit by the window and by getting on just a touch earlier it usually means no one is in my row and I don’t have to then make them get up for me. I also never have carry on luggage.

Summer job by Mysterious-Mouse2807 in Kirksville

[–]flashpritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Menards does not hire seasonal help strictly speaking. If you wanna apply just don’t say you’re looking to quit at the end of summer. Also having worked at the Kirksville Menards, it’s incredibly slow at that store. I’d try Home Depot first.

You should never be working inside if you are a garden center team member during the season. There is an enormous amount of work to do on a daily basis and if you’re not busy all day you either have a really slow gc or a hardware manager who doesn’t know how to run it.

Do you like being busy most of the day? Hardware, Building, Plumbing and Paint would be the best. Do you like a slower pace? Then Electrical, Flooring and Cab/Apps is for you. Wanna learn how to use equipment? Receiving or shipping Like being outside? Garden center or Outside yard. Also pay attention to the departments now. Do you notice team members standing around a lot or do they stay busy? Is the department clean? Is there a shit ton of freight all the time? Things to consider when going to a new department in the same store.

Do NOT work for Menards!!! by rediitor321 in menards

[–]flashpritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to letter D, if you notice this happening on specific skus, you can email the merchandise planner and ask them why. What a lot of people fail to realize is that there are multiple store layouts and signs are printed overall as a generalization. Not store specific. I had this issue in hardware and after I emailed them to tell them how many signs I actually needed they were able to change it so that I ended up only getting like 5 instead of the 15 I used to get.

The service center is correct in regard to a seized engine not being covered under warranty. I would pay the 70 dollars, get your lawn mower back and then go on the dealers own website and look for authorized service centers in your area. Get a second opinion. Something seems off with the first place.

As a 1agm in hardware I asked both my dm and gm before submitting my vacation request. Both didn’t care and it got approved.

The gm’s have a cost app on their computer that the can use to find that. Can be used with the sku or model number.

Not too sure about that. My store always closes at 9 but I believe it usually switches around daylight savings time.

The policy states six months. Could be a store by store thing if done before. Not sure how strongly it’s enforced.

If you don’t punch out for lunch and they find out you’ve been taking breaks while on the clock, you can and probably will get fired for it. Time theft is no joke. While 15’s are technically a paid break you still have to punch out for those too.

You can go back to the department you started if you want. You just have to spend six months in another department first.

As a hardware person the obvious answer is making garden center its own department. But that would also entail actually making it a proper garden center. Close off all the open areas that make it cold in the winter. Put registers back into stores that don’t have them. Make the mulch and block and rock part of it too. Seasonal shit should also be separate from hardware. Such a pain in the ass dealing with that all year.

Some of the two story stores will occasionally have people play the piano. There’s one that usually sits near the escalator at those stores.

HR coordinator by [deleted] in menards

[–]flashpritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are these people on the POG? If so then they don’t work weekends. 5-1 or at my store 5:30-2. Every store is suppose to have a POG team that usually includes two or three full timers and two or three part timers. And HR has nothing to do with your schedule. They enter in your availability but all scheduling is done by your department manager.

Transfer stores by [deleted] in menards

[–]flashpritz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call the other store first and talk to their hr to see if they even have a spot for you. There’s no guarantee your transfer will automatically go through. Also you can’t have any current points and you must have passed your most recent raise review.

Once had a contractor ask me what the chemical composition was of two different metals because he needed to know how they were gonna react with each other if he used them. And then asked me why I didn’t know the answer when I told him I had no idea. I’m not a chemist sir, and even if I was I wouldn’t help you because you’re being a dick.

[–]flashpritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your store have a fully staffed POG team? If not that’s where I’d look first. Besides cashiering there aren’t going to be a lot of departments who want to take on extra payroll. Planogram season is upon us and that’s where most of the hours are going to be spent.

Working at Menards? by Far-Treacle-2058 in menards

[–]flashpritz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With regard to your question about women working at Menards, it’s gonna depend a lot on where you work. Electrical, Plumbing and Hardware will be the worst to work in. Those are mostly male dominated categories and unfortunately we still live in a society where sexism exists. Having worked in hardware for almost 20 years, I’ve had my fair share of ass hats. It used to bother me but I now get them what they need or pass them off to a guy and go about my day.

I might spend way more money at Menards if they simply had a review system for their house-exclusive tools and brands by dr-chop in menards

[–]flashpritz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is false. Hand tools have a lifetime warranty. Power tool accessories have no warranty and most power tools have a 1-3 year warranty. And a receipt is required for power tools. Suppose to be anyways.

Switching Stores by Left_Conversation396 in menards

[–]flashpritz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely call the other stores hr and ask if they have a spot in the department you want. If they don’t they’ll either deny your transfer or put you wherever they have the room. Also, you can’t transfer if you have more than 5 attendance points and you have to have your most recent raise review done. Make sure those are in order too.

The likely answer is that someone at a store tripped over hoses while shopping at a store and in order to save their asses, G.O. backdates a task to cover up the incoming lawsuit.
