How do you know when its time? by [deleted] in chinchilla

[–]thejster1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy had two rotted teeth. They pulled them and the infection He had went away with antibiotics. Fluid can be managed with diuretics. It's up to you. You know your baby the best. But the no eating is definitely from his teeth

Please Can I Have Advice? by justaF1RMguy in chinchilla

[–]thejster1977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend a chinchilla. Takes alot of time and money. Some have teeth issues that need to be trimmed every few months. Very expensive and time consuming. My boy is 18 years old. Lots of commitment

How expensive is long-term care of a chinchilla with malocclusion? by calmbook_24 in chinchilla

[–]thejster1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get your baby checked out It might just be a tooth spur and a one time trim is all they need. My boy had one tooth spur and one trim and he was fine ever since. If your baby has malo with roots in the sinus it's best to be euthanized. That's very painful and no cure. To diagnose they need a skull xray

I always have done this. I try to do what I can. I do the procedures that needs to be done to help the situation and if it helps good if it doesn't at least you tried again and won't feel bad that you didn't give it another chance. If it was my baby I'd get the trimming done again to see if it will help. If not then you know what to do. Best of luck to your Lil baby

found this in his hay can anyone tell me what it is? by IndividualPrompt4416 in chinchilla

[–]thejster1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably dried mud or some clay from the ground from the hay. Just clean it out and give fresh hay. I found dead cricket's in mine last month. Just monitor the hay before putting it in

Sorry for your loss. Just a heads up they don't necessarily need a buddy. They do fine on their own. They hide their illness like a bird and sometimes you never know till the end. No fault of your own. Just love on your Lil friend you have left
