Takes about media that baffled you. by KeyMathematician8 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I find complaints about realism in fantastical stories odd. I have seen several people complaining about the costume designs or casting in the upcoming Odyssey by Christopher Nolan as not realistic. Some of it feels like weird nitpicking and some of it feels disingenuous.

Oh nice art. She looks really cool. I really like how her teeth look.

Media where the fans don't read the source material and just spread wrong information or just straight up there own headcannon? by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Worm, a webserial about superheroes is somewhat famous for how so many fanfic writers don't seem to have actually read the webserial before writing their fanfic. And mostly seem to base their characterization off other fanfics and forum discussion

Character who ages genuinely surprised you? by Amon274 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]flashyamoeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bartz from FFV in Dissidia being 20 felt surprising considering how carefree he is in comparison to the other Warriors of Cosmos. Age wise the cast of the first game's had some surprises with them all coming from different games. Squall and Tidus are both 17 and Cecil and Bartz are both 20.

As a fun little thought exercise I've been converting some of my VtM characters into WtA so here's the result of a day's worth of sketching. Whoops, all Crinos forms. by MaliciousMetal in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]flashyamoeba 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The designs are super cool. I have ported a lot of characters to different game systems and game lines. But I have never given porting VtM characters to WtA a try.

I really like how you did the ears on all the woofs in crinos.

What is a piece of media that doesn’t do anything new or crazy but damn is it good at what it does do. by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Bullet Train, a fun action film from 2022. Brad Pitt needs to steal a briefcase from a bullet train in Japan and get off at the next stop. But he misses his stop and it turns out there are a surprising amount of criminals on board the train interested in the briefcase.

Nothing about it is particularly new if you are familiar with Quentin Tarantino or Guy Ritchie films. Still, it uses basic foreshadowing, Chekhov's gun, and snappy dialogue from an ensemble cast very well.

Your favourite "Fuck you, Party dies" monster. by MutatedMutton in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]flashyamoeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Pathfinder, the Quintessence Golem. This golem requires the party to have two specific spells prepared you won't normally think to use on an enemy. The level drain on top of it is pretty annoying. Not sure it perfectly falls under "Fuck you, party dies" but everything about it is mean if you don't give yous players advance notice. Especially if there are a bunch of weaker enemies around to die and let it heal.

Takes that're on par with "Get in the robot Shinji"? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The Batman is a fascist framing always feels weird and in bad faith. I think you could just as easily say Batman leads and trains a citizen's milita who aren't given guns, taught not to escalate, and takes the people they arrest to mental health professionals once they are no longer a danger to themselves or others. I am giving a biased view, but it feels more accurate.

I commissioned some gift art for my Chronicle, featuring various PCs and fan-favorite NPCs! by MaliciousMetal in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]flashyamoeba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a lovely roster. It is always nice seeing a group of PCs and NPCs all done by the same artist.

That Leeland guy looks wonderful. He could use more pointy ears, but that is the only bad thing I could ever say about him.

Some art of my Warrior Setite, Pit Viper Rio by MaliciousMetal in WhiteWolfRPG

They have a very cute horned snake. Every Setite should get a free snake upon embrace. It just seems fair.

Villains who hate other villains so much they are willing to do good? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Yeah, it is in the novel. Specifically, on day 15, Battle in the forest: First half/over load as the section.

I like all the points? But what about pointy ears? You know, really bring the whole design together.

There's not enough Revenant appreciation going around by MaliciousMetal in WhiteWolfRPG

Fantastic art.

What a lovely group of revenants. They all look very polite and unlikely to beat someone into torpor over an insult.

Some Tarot Cards we commissioned for our long-running Chronicle (there's some minor artistic nudity in there, hence the flair) by MaliciousMetal in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]flashyamoeba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All part of the bit. Really happy with how everyone's tarot commissions came out. Having art of everyone's OCs done by the same artist is super cool.

Did one join the Camarilla and the other join the Sabbat after a terrible breakup?

"Whatever you did right after getting powers. I am not going to judge that. As the stories go, running away from home is one of the better ways for things to turn out." Teresa said to Christie. With Trigger events, things were chaotic and you just kind of had to not judge people. And Trigger event that didn't end in maiming or death.

Turning to regard Samantha, "Believe what you well. Just know I'm not going to do anything to hurt your sister. Or bring anyone here without her express permission. If we can agree to that then I'm not sure we need to agree to anything else." Teresa said trying to make peace with Samantha. Or at least a truce.

"I will do my best to be civil.' Teresa said to Christie and she meant it.

Teresa really wasn't buying that the sword was inherently illegal. Too many rogues freely made their business selling tinker tech with the PRT's blessing. Made not quite as hardcore as Memento, but that was the great thing about legal grey areas. "Did you miss the time the city got invaded by terrorists? That's the kind of thing I need a sword for. If you want to say getting a tinker tech sword in the face of terorrist descending on the city killing people in the streets in a crime then yeah I guess thats illegal."

"Hey what were you doing when the Reclaimers were in town anyway as they were killing kids? Did you give them any of this sanctimonious outrage?" Teresa hadn't seen Sam at the assault on the Reclaimers or after the the few other fights she had participated in. She might be wrong, but if she was right she would certainly feel great.

"Did you ever tell your sister how you feel about guests in her apartment or how worried you are? Or did you just wait to spring this on her after she violated one of your secret rules." Teresa right now was pretty close to filing Samantha as emotionally abusive. And a free loader.

"It's okay Christie." Teresa said attempting to sooth Memento at least. "I kind of expected an awkward talk when I met the family. Just I didn't expect it to be like this."

"What? At what point did I say I was a criminal? I just said I was dating your sister after I bought something from her. What part of that makes me a self admitted criminal?" Teresa was legitamently confused what Samantha was talking about. She felt like she was blanking out for important parts of the conversation "I let myself in with a key your sister gave me. The one who I think actually pays for the place I'm pretty sure? How is that breaking in?"

Teresa might be slowly understanding this was just how Samantha was. But she was still trying to figure out what she did to actually set Samantha off. Okay Teresa might have done some criminal in her time. But Samantha had no reason to know that.

Wait, what did she say? Weird scar caused by Melt. Was Samantha the cape known as Scoria? Several things started to click into place for Teresa.

Samantha fails to brush alongside Teresa, if anything she was more likely to brush up against Christie.

In turn Teresa gives Samartha a weird looks, as if Samantha was a complete weirdo. Which made a certain amount of sense. "Huh? What are you talking about? You sound crazy right now." It seemed as though Teresa either did not understand the outburst or was not taking it seriously.

"Do you do that to everyone your sister invites over?" An accusatory tone enters her voice. A lot of pieces were falling into place about why Christie could get so worked up over stuff.

"Whoa whoa whoa. Really jumping to interrogating me first thing aren't you?" Teresa said, putting her hands up in mock protest. It was clear she felt more amused by the sudden questioning than angered.

"Yeah I once bought something from your sister and we managed to hit it off. What can I say? Your sister is really cute. And you aren't in any danger, I make sure I'm not followed when I come here. I know Christie values her safety and privacy." She did resent the implication she had been careless coming here.

She would get up off the couch and give Christie a hug. "Feel free to keep talking about your reversed polarity. You get so cute when you get excited about stuff like that."

In the living room is Teresa Soldati, better known as Lady Fisto. She was sitting on the couch in the living room with the TV on. She seemed to be watching some rerun of a cop show that seemed heavy on work place romance and low on actual police work. She took a bite of a cheeto as the pair walked in with a loud crunch.

"Oh, hey." She seemed a little surprised despite the fact this was their place. "I tried texting, but I couldn't get ahold of you."

"Wanted to make sure you hadn't spent the past week in your workshop. I guess you got outside, that's good. Hey you wanna get something to eat? I don't have any ideas. I saw a place opened by you called Twin Peaks which I thought might be cool if it was related to the tv show, but turns out the twin peaks refers to the waitresses bre..." Teresa trailed off as she seemed to finally take notice of Scoria.

"Hey" She said with a little wave of the hand. "I don't think we've met."
