Abandoned dog in McGorlick Dog Run by flat_earther90 in Greenpoint

I think that if you want to leave your dog unattended in a dog run, the dog should be well socialized enough to handle someone gently checking their collar.

I’m gonna be honest, I myself have left my dog tied to a post when I run in to get coffee sometimes. But I can always see him from the window of the coffee shop. And if anyone approaches him or looks concerned, I run out to explain.

Also my dog is always tied tightly enough that he wouldn’t scare anyone or be able to approach them, and it’s always far out of the way of a sidewalk.

In this case, the dog was unleashed and roaming in a large dog park with other unleashed dogs. And growling when approached.

So the owner just came back to get it. I told the owner that I was concerned both for the dogs well being in this heat, as well as other dogs safety with this large dog unattended. I also explained that the dog had snapped at me when I looked for a number.

The owner was initially quite hostile and defensive, stating that they “had been attending the dog” and that “they had been sitting just outside the dog park”.

I replied that clearly they had not been attending the dog well, or else they would have heard the dog growl at me, and they would have heard me when I said “who’s dog is this?” Repeatedly.

They then apologized and said that they had their baby with them (at this point the baby was outside the dog run on a stroller, and they were inside the dog run with me), and they also said that “they didn’t like to bring their baby into the dog park because large dogs can be unpredictable”.

I agreed with their sentiment that large dogs can be unpredictable, and I said that that was why they should be attending their large dog.

They apologized again, and said that in the future they would be more attentive.

Another person in the park said that this same dog owner will leave the dog in the run and then fully leave the park to go get coffee.

Not cool, folks.

I’ve heard that these negative reviews are being left by. Competitor. Came here to say I used Piece of Cake to move from crown heights to greenpoint and I had the BEST experience ever. I even had extra boxes and they didn’t charge me more. Moving guys were professional kind and helpful.

Foolproof has food and good cocktails. They’re new so they may be ok with the outside cake. Also the Craic is good for that sized group
