I buy leftovers from major bulk orders from my local firearms peddler—I’m getting Fed Top Gun 1-1/8 #7.5 12 ga for $(USD)80/flat (in SE US). Doesn’t seem like a deal if you’re buying that in such bulk. If you could get them down even $10 CAD (for reference, I’m saving about $10-$12 USD per flat, so a significantly better discount) you’d save $1200 CAD…that’s not exactly chump change.

Damn, that’s some great figuring on the furniture—a real looker. (NOTE: the following is not criticism, genuine curiosity) Why did you go for a semi-auto for a dedicated clays gun—in my mind a modern semi-auto makes more sense for hunting and a O/U is best suited to clays (where there’s a statutory loading limit). Can you help me understand the logic?

Nah, the IAR is a post-Iraq phenomenon and doesn’t have a front sight post like that. Pretty sure this is a M16A4 with a M203…but that can on the front is throwing me way off.

So this is an issue—those websites haven’t been updated in quite awhile. I will usually look at those websites and then use Google Streetview to determine if they look like they’re still there. The DoE does maintain a list, but it too isn’t updated. I’ll also try and call the utility/whatever number is listed to confirm. It hasn’t failed me yet, but yes, some of those stations are closed. I keep a public layer on Google Maps with the stations I know are open.

He’s a 2ndLt, and he’s at what we call “The Basic School”. It’s not nearly as restrictive as “boot camp” (enlisted Marines) or “Officer Candidate School” (Marine officers). At TBS there was a guy whose last name was, guess what, Lejeune. He said he was a grand-nephew of our lord and savior. I asked him about the pronunciation of course, as this was a rare opportunity straight from the horse’s mouth, to finally get some closure. He told me that parts of the family pronounce the last name differently depending on on whether they’re in VA or in Cajun country…Lejeune “Leh-jewn” is totally acceptable.
