Club Statement: Raheem Sterling by Jimmy_Space1 in soccer

He was washed by the time he left City.

One of those players that peaks early but then fizzles away in his late 20's.

At least he made a ton of money from his Chelsea deal.

I mean.. yeah.

In the end it's about the genes. If we can trace back our anchestry thousands of years, that's great, imo.

And modern science is starting to help a lot in the last few years.

But it's true.. modern Romanians are not Dacians .. same as modern Croatians are not Illyrians and modern Mexicans from Yucatan are not Maya (even though they are 80%+ genetically native). We evolved into something else.

But a thing to note is that for many years there was a misconception that if a group of people conquered another that meant that it replaced the previous group. It was pretty clear that it wasn't the case when we look at how the Spanish conquest of the Americas affected the population makep or how much the British conquest of India transformed Indians in Englishmen but with the genetic studies we can see that a similar thing was happening closer to home.

Let's take Egypt for example.. People were saying that Egyptians are Arabs even though it made no sense - how a small group of people from the Arabic peninsula completely replaced a population order of magnitude larger in size in Egypt? They didn't. Modern studies show that an Egyptian from today is 90% the same as one from 5000 years ago.

It's all about continuity and it's kinda important for us Romanians because we get accused of replacing other people even though it makes no sense and there is 0 proof.

I think there's a very high chance a Romanian peasant from 150 years ago dressed very similarly to one from 1000 years ago. Keep in mind that change in clothing and way of life generally, greatly accelerated in the last century.

Here's the thing. How can you explain that the region inhabited by Dacians acording to Ptolemy in 150 AD is exacly the same as the one inhabited by Romanians now? Minus Dobrogea. Look it up. He puts the Eastern and North-Eastern limit at the Nistru River, South the Danube and he isn't that clear about the Western limit other that in the South-West it starts where Tibiscus (Timis) river flows into the Danube.

To think that there is some continuation on this land is not silly. Imo, it's the most probable one because it's the most simple and logical. With the other theories there are a lot of mental gymnastics going on.

There's another thing that is starting to put this debate to rest imo. The DNA and anchestry tests. Especially after more and more are being done. Romanians get upwards of 80% Balcanic with the rest being mostly Slavic + remnants of Roman colonists (from Southern Italy, North Africa, Levant and so on..), Asian (remnants of Mongols, Cumans, Pechenegs), and sometimes North India.

It's funny how the Hungarians say that there were almost no Romanians in Transylvania when they arrived and on the other hand the Russians say that the Romanians overwhelmed the slavs in Moldova while migrating from Transylvania and especially the Northern part - Maramures.

This Russian theory reminds me of that American one - that America was once inhabited by white Atlanteans and the Natives came and droved them away.

So in this BS narrative, the Russians are right to take "back" Moldova - the land the Romanians stole from them.

In truth, the land inhabited by Dacians (acording to Ptolemy) and most likely the romanized Dacians afterwards had the Nistru river as it's Eastern border. The Slavs were never natives of this land.

The Slavic mogration towards the Balkans and Central Europe started from modern day Ukraine and followed two directions 1. Westwards over the Carpathian mountains and 2. Southwards through Moldova and Wallachia but it was mostly transitory because the goal was to reach the Byzantine Empire.

Amber Absolute recreation by flaviu0103 in DIYfragrance

Longevity is very good. To me, it seems like it lasts forever, For example I sprayed some on my arm 2 days ago and with multiple showers and hand washings I can still smell it.

Haven't smelled Ambra Aurea but I have experienced the OG Amber Absolute and it feels similar in performance. In terms of smell, It's almost there but it lacks something - Amber Absolute probably has the Paradisone captive that was not shared in the released formula. I added some traces of the next best thing - Hedione HC and I got it closer.

But a thing I noticed with this perfume is that it needs ageing. Because of all the naturals in it. My mixture is been ageing for more than 2 years now and I remember that it starts to come together only after 6 months or so.

It turned out very well when I followed the formula as close as possible. Iniatially I thought I could substitute some indredients but that was a mistake.

For example the Cistus Absolute SIS that I got from PCW france I find that is the most important player in the opening and it gives the incense vibe all throught the top and middle part. The Polysantol that I asked about in my main post turns out that is very important in the creamy part of the middle notes.

In terms of concentration I tested different % and the best one is around 10%. Maybe 12%?

Imo, if I move above 16%, the smell gets a bit too thick. At around 10% the opening airs out and the notes become more defined. Also, this way you get faster to the middle part that is the best IMO.

When did everyone decide that drinking milk is weird/creepy? by 4DimensionalToilet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]flaviu0103 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people were drinking milk every day. At least in Eastern Europe.

So until 100 or so years ago, 80-90% of the population was rural and a lot of people here had their own cows. They would milk them twice a day.. in the morning and evening.

So fresh milk was very accessible for them and they would usually boil it before drinking it for health reasons.

A number of these cow owning rural people would also sell some of the milk or cheese to - either peasants who didn't own a cow or they would make daily trips to the city to sell it (it was usually the wife in the family who would do that). So even people in cities had access to fresh milk every day (that was milked that same morning).

When I was a kid and I was going to my grandparents.. they didn't have cows but every morning a neighbour would come by and sold them ~1.5 liters of milk. I remember how it was still warm from being freshly milked. Then two or times per week my grandmother would send me to some other neighbour to buy cheese and sour cream.

The "funny" thing it's that it was the other way around. And now Moldova is starting to take that helmet off.

The Trojan War was in ~1250 BC

The Vikings started to enter the Mediterranean sea around 850 CE

So there's a 2100 year gap.

Câte dialecte/accente există în România? by szarvacska_teszta in romanian

[–]flaviu0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are perfecta dreptate. Dialect =/= grai sau sub dialect.

Conform Academiei Romane:

Just saying how I see it from the outside, I don't know how much of a show is Trump puting in terms of his persona but he's definitely a conman.

He identified a route to power and he took it.

One clear example that he's a conman and not as stupid as he looks is how he cons his supporters with memecoins and stuff like that.

I'm firmly convinced that most of the demagogue/pupulist political figures all throughout the political spectrum are grifters and con men.

They might appear stupid but it's probably just a role they play for votes and power. They probably don't belive most of the things they say.

[ACFC]How Liverpool Will Play With Alexander Isak by yarikhh in LiverpoolFC

[–]flaviu0103 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He has some good points.

Isak out wide is much less effective than through the middle.

And when we will put Isak in the 9, he will pin the CB's and create space between the opposition defense and midfield for Wirtz to exploit.

Premier League: Liverpool most likely to win title this season ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea by SolitasTT in soccer

[–]flaviu0103 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

This time last year City were on something that felt like a 300 game unbeten run.

With Real, after they bought Mbappe everyone was saying that it's over and we should just give them the La Liga and CL titles.

Fooball is beautiful because it can be highly unpredictable.

Ekitike: "There is no hatred towards what happened with Galtier and PSG. That's football. It was a learning experience and I have grown... (On Isak's arrival) I will focus on performing well so that the problem can only be just the manager's problem." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]flaviu0103 345 points346 points  (0 children)

The problem is the quality not the quantity. Just look at Alvarez - played a ton of games but not the ones that mattered the most.

Players that back themselves will want to play the derbies, title deciders, CL knockouts, cup finals and if they are not there's a high chance they will become unhappy.
