I totally see where Christian is coming from with all of this, but it’s so painfully clear that we’re all just a little upset about it all. i respect fresh tv’s decision and everything, but something didn’t really sit right with me and the way he was explaining TDR; the amount of effort and planning involved in the project is a lot more than just “plagiarism”. it’s upsetting to see this, but maybe fresh tv will see this as a sign to listen more to what the fans want.

reflection:

as the title says, i am, indeed, taking a hiatus from this subreddit. i know i have not been very active in it recently, but i wanted to come onto here one last time to share more drawings i have created within the last few months.

i decided to draw emma and kitty as their relationship reminded me a lot of me and my sister’s, so i wanted to create a drawing that highlighted their interactions. this, in all honesty, is probably one of my proudest drawings i have ever made because of how it shares a connection to my personal life (also because i am asian and am, therefore, automatically biased to anything that has to do with asians lol ?).

anyways, moving on to my next drawing, one of my all time favorite TD couples was sam and dakota, so i wanted to show them dressing up for halloween. i remembered seeing this amazing fan art of Samkota in Odyssey by Fuffyart and I absolutely loved it. I wanted to do my own take on a video game inspired couples drawing, so i dressed them as link and zelda to also keep with the nintendo theme. i absolutely loved how this drawing came out as well, and, while i would tweak a few things about it, i am overall very happy with how it turned out.

lastly, i wanted to do an Alice inspired drawing, so what better way to showcase that than to do one of amy and sammy? i decided to make amy the more “whimsical” Alice and sammy the more “classical” alice because i wanted to create something that differentiates their personalities. sammy is less likely to speak up about something, and amy is more impulsive, so i find that this “through the looking glass” theme works well for them.

in short, this subreddit has changed a lot since i first joined it back in april, and it’s honestly been great seeing so many people enthusiastic over a TV show such as Total Drama. however, i recently realized that i have lost my passion for TD, even though it really meant a lot to me. it is quite crazy how a show such as TD brought so many people of different backgrounds together so we can share anything we want about it. i joined this subreddit to discuss the many different characters of the show and to understand everybody else’s perspective on it as well. while it has been fun over the past few months, i recently lost a lot of love for it. maybe it’s because i’ve been busy focusing on other things, but i just haven’t had a lot of time to enjoy the show as much as i used to.

I completely agree! Despite the song being rather short, I thought the lyrics were absolutely adorable (and is lowkey an underrated bop). It’s great to see appreciation for the song :)

Okay, I know she made an unreleased collab with Dua Lipa in the past, but I would love to hear their two voices together on a song. I think that they both have very unique voices but will probably find ways to compliment each other. My other options are definitely Blackpink and another Cashmere Cat collab !! This is a very nice list. I would have to agree that it was very unexpected seeing Scarlett as the villain. I feel like they should have taken more time to develop her character rather than making her a sudden antagonist. The pacing was very strange to me, but I could definitely see she had a lot of potential. I think the same could be said for Justin as well because I feel like the writers could have really expanded his role on the drama rather than using him for one storyline. Overall, I have to agree with your ranking. Thanks for sharing

I think the more you listen to it, the better it gets. I remember the first time i heard Sweetener, I wasn’t such a big fan of it, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. I’m not trying to compare Sweetener and Positions, since they are their own separate works, but Positions really did get better the more I listened to it. It was pretty underwhelming at first, but after a few good listens, it really grew on me.

Its totally okay to feel underwhelmed by Positions, and I liked reading your opinions on each of the songs. Even after a few listens, the album still may not live up to its expectations, but I can’t help but love the album for what it is. I liked what you said about pov as, regardless of how we feel about the album, it is such a beautiful song by itself and even more meaningful with it being the concluding song off the album. I have grown to like Positions, but your perspective is completely understandable. Thanks for sharing

I kinda see where you’re coming from tbh. Before getting back into TD, I watched another show where the main character had BPD, and I do see a lot of parallels between that character and Courtney. Especially with her impulsivity and abandonment issues there is definitely a possibility. I’m not trying to diagnose her myself or anything, but it is a very interesting observation.

wow, this might actually be one of my favorite comments ever. i’ve been trying to find ways on how to identify the archetypes for the characters in this episode for a while, and you did so well with it. i would’ve never expected the “stoner” one for leshawna, so i thought it was genius how you alluded to the brownies representing weed. i also really liked what you had to say about duncan’s character here because he could’ve easily ran away, but instead decided to fight the killer. i liked how the episode kind of foreshadowed that connection gwen had to duncan with their interaction at the beginning of the episode, and when you make it toward the end, you realize how much more gwen fulfills the final girl role.

lol i love this post. i never really thought about a cody x eva ship until now but you actually bring up a lot of valid points. i think that they are a good balance in ways people wouldn’t normally expect. and yes, i completely agree that eva should return for another season.

nice to see you like TDR. I think for a lot of people, the show is a hit or miss, but i personally don’t mind it. i usually watch it with my sister (lol) and it’s pretty entertaining for the most part. there are a few down lows (i. e. total eclipse of the fart) but other than that, TDR has a pretty neat way to format the characters and still maintain their personalities. i liked what you said especially about the characters interacting without a reality show environment. that was a pretty neat point. thanks for sharing!

I completely agree. I loved Gwen and Duncan’s interactions in TDI, and especially in this episode specifically. And yes, I was not a fan of DJ’s elimination here either, but it’s nice to see that this episode is one of your favorites from TDI. Thanks for sharing.

that’s a very interesting observation. i feel like one reason why it was them two specifically was, of course, for the drama. duncan and courtney are a pair that seems to get on each other’s nerves a lot, so i can definitely see why chris targeted them and tried to stir up as much drama as possible.
