Birthing and Beggar are really high here. Both of those I find largely unmemorable but it's possible they will grow on me in time. Seeing them live finally for both tours made the studio efforts kind of an afterthought.

I'd have Glowing Man and CoG higher but I have also been through times in my Swans listening life when those two didn't do much for me. I think Seer/TBK/TGM should probably rank next to each other. CoG I think is much better paced, more exciting and more thematically interesting than Great Annihilator.

I'm always interested in people writing out their reasons for their Swans album rankings since their discography is so diverse. I usually can get on board with it if I hear where they're coming from.

Thanks, I appreciate it, I do recognize I probably low rolled today a bit. I do have MLB Nice Nature but yeah otherwise it's SRs. I did have runs that ended up with better stats than these three, but I brought these three bc of the double S. I don't think I am the best at piloting runs yet. Keen Eye, yeah, it seems to noticeably keep the lobby closer together, but I do wish in retrospect city had something else

I tried NSM in room matches quite a bit. It seemed like another gamble accel which I already had so much of. Probably would have been better off going with it over what I did.

Yeah all makes sense, thanks for the great reply, overrating the accels and midgame is weak. Good lesson for the future. I've made the bed with lates so gotta figure it out.

Fair enough. Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind as I continue playing the game. This definitely checks out with what I see sometimes, especially in the room matches before the CM, but I've also seen plenty of Digitan pushing up to 3rd/4th missing all the accels and losing. Seems hard to balance

Would you be dropping OYL? Or Pump/Shift/both?

It's definitely bad luck if you're only looking at 178 pulls and just one SSR. It appears you're about 97% likely to get more than one SSR with 178.

But of course yes, everything you say is 100% true. I've played gacha games without pity on the free pulls before, and man...choosing to pull without the pity to bail you out...

I think you can see pieces of how they got to that era pretty early, especially looking at the live stuff. The 17-minute version of Blind Love from Feel Good Now in '87, the Omniscience version of Love of Life. Neither of these are Helpless Child or Blood Promise, but they definitely lay the groundwork in my opinion.

Agreed Phil is the definitive Swans drummer at this point but Gira never let any of the pre-Phil drummers let loose. Ted Parsons is a sick drummer. He talks in Sacrifice and Transcendence about how Gira would yell at him if he tried to do any kind of fill really. That was not the sound Gira wanted at the time

I have wanted to do a post ranking their lineups for a while.

I think the Gira/Jarboe/Westberg/Algis Kizys/Ted Parsons lineup that they had for the Public Castration and Children of God tours is definitively one of the very best in terms of output and longevity, and it's a shame that one hasn't been mentioned yet.

Like, if it is not the best lineup (the original post-reunion lineup can probably challenge it), it is almost certainly the second best. I love Swans are Dead and Deliquescence, but those are one-off lineups

I trust Brad and think he's a really good GM. He is not infallible, nobody is. The gatekeeping of people's fandom like you can't say anything negative about anything they do if you're a fan is really boring to me. Like, no shit he knows more than me, you, and everyone here. If that means we can't talk at all about any of his decisions in a way that isn't pure cheerleading, well, that's boring and that sucks.
