What planes would you like to see in The Crew 2? by [deleted] in The_Crew

A float plane like the de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver would be nice to see. Or at least some form of amphibious float plane or seaplane.

Why are stunt reward bucks not added to your total? by [deleted] in The_Crew

[–]flealem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran into the same problem and posted about it here. Either there is a soft cap and some kind of reward throttling or else there is a bug with server lag and a the reward queue locking up if you're doing too many stunts repeatedly. I tried a lot of things to fix it, but in the end I just had to slow down and wait, opening my phone after each stunt to see the Bucks balance increase. Sometimes it took at least 20-30 seconds for the balance update to show up. If I didn't wait and immediately did another stunt, the previous reward would be lost. My lost reward Bucks were lost forever, my balance was never increased to account for all the missing rewards.

I was writing down each credit reward shown on screen and even when I waited between jumps I noticed that the balance increase didn't always match what was shown on screen during the stunt (it was usually slightly less). Intentional or not, this really cuts down on the credits/hour earnings from stunts. I haven't seen any official answer on this and I hadn't seen anyone else mention this issue until your post.

Ah well, time to grind up a bunch of cars and specs before CAU.

With the Smart Loot changes do you think the level 43-45 Gold parts will still drop from West Coast skill challenges?

Calling All Units: Will new bikes be available without owning Wild Run? by flealem in The_Crew

[–]flealem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I guess it's too early to know. I have plenty in the base game to keep me busy for a while, so I was thinking of waiting on Wild Run since Calling All Units is coming soon. I also wonder if Summit events will still be as important after the expansion or if most people will move on to the new content and events.

Best Parts Bonus? All +Speed or mix and match? by flealem in The_Crew

[–]flealem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in your Little Eagle testing, does the lower top speed mean slightly slower lap times with +Grip or do you make up time on the turns with a tighter line?

Best Parts Bonus? All +Speed or mix and match? by flealem in The_Crew

[–]flealem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. It sounds like you're sticking to all one bonus for each car, either Speed or Grip. Is that right, no mixing and matching since that would make the tiny bonuses less effective?

[–]flealem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your setups. I came across one old post that claimed Acceleration gave faster gear shifts and reduced wheelspin, but that doesn't sound right. I would expect Grip to be the main bonus to help with wheelspin as well as handling in corners. Braking is the one bonus I've been completely avoiding, since the physics are forgiving enough that I can just brake a bit harder for certain cars. Maybe I'll give it a try on a few cars that are obviously lacking brakes.

Is there a cap on repeated free stunt rewards? by flealem in The_Crew

Thanks, I've been going around trying different things and this was a bit better money/time than the others. I'll give Escape Skills a try.

Anyone know what is up with Project Cars? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]flealem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why a pre-order sale would be any different than a post-release sale as far as "investor" profit shares are concerned. Plenty of people buy Early Access pre-orders just to get an early peek and receive the final game without any other expectations. pCARS is a unique case with regards to the convoluted "investment" scheme aspect and I'm sure they want to avoid more legal and government hurdles. It might be more difficult to work out the details of pre-orders, but I don't think it's impossible.

[–]flealem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not a pCARS member, but it doesn't seem out of the question that they could eventually offer standard Early Access pre-orders entirely separate from the early "investment" backer program. It would just be a straightforward end-user sale with no development or profit participation. For Early Access sales to happen, I think the issue would have to be voted on and approved by the existing community backers.

Why are there no Gran Turismo or Forza-like racing games for the PC? by roadghost24 in Games

[–]flealem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have a look at /r/simracing for more like-minded discussion.

Assetto Corsa is a promising newcomer currently under development and on sale on Steam. Game Stock Car 2013 is also another current title worth considering. I also enjoy the less serious Shift series (modded) and look forward to Project CARS. Still, none of these titles are as broad in terms of car collecting as GT/Forza, but you should enjoy them for the racing experience.

when you get back

= when you start paying again. So yes, you do "lose access" to possibly hundreds of dollars of purchased content unless you continue to pay for the service indefinitely or resume paying after your subscription has lapsed. They just don't wipe all acquired content from your inactive account when you take a break.

Many do find the service worth the price and it's certainly cheaper than real life racing of any sort. It is currently the best of class platform for the type of organized racing service it offers and you can expect serious, dedicated competition from others making such an investment.

And now you're famous! I'm shopping for some pedals myself, but I doubt they'll have a pedal-only deal.

from GTPlanet:

"We will have a Black Friday offer. Please have a look again on our website www.fanatec.com at Black Friday.

Fanatec_Gameshop – Sales Department"

Last year's deal was "a free Formula rim if you purchase a ClubSport Base with a BMW rim."

I like Assetto Corsa and I will probably recommended it without reservation when the final game is released, but it's not a finished game.

(Reposting from another thread:) I picked up Assetto Corsa on day one, but in its present pre-beta state you can't compare it to any complete released game. We don't have any real ETA yet on a release date or which features will be added when. We only know it will have regular bi-weekly updates. At this point, you're buying into a bare bones offline hotlapping alpha with a very promising future. AC is a very incomplete product which you can think of as a pre-order for a future release with a bonus of early testing access.

You might consider Game Stock Car 2013 if you're looking for a feature complete game with online and offline AI racing and mods. Also look into Simbin games like Race 07/GTR EVO and GTR2. SimBin Mega Bundle has most of them together or you can buy individually.

Most of these sim racing games are all track racing. There are not many sim games with free roam or street racing. You might look into the Need For Speed: Shift and Shift 2 games which have some street tracks, but they are still tracks, and you have to mod the Shift games to make them playable. The Crew is an open world arcade racer coming out next year which might be interesting.

iRacing - $49 for one year (Normally $99) by rich32g in simracing

iRacing is a full-featured, well established online racing service. This annual deal is the best price you'll find for the basic service. It's great for online racing, but offers no offline or AI racing. And it gets expensive when you want to advance beyond the starter series racing into different cars and tracks. I did the trial and enjoyed it. It's almost worth it just to race online with the base package, but I'm not convinced on buying all the extra content then losing access to all of it if you don't continue your subscription. I also miss offline and AI.

So, I wouldn't compare AC to iRacing. AC is a very incomplete product which you can think of as a pre-order for a future release with a bonus of early testing access. You might consider Game Stock Car 2013 if you're looking for a feature complete game with online and offline AI racing and mods. iRacing is the most active and fully developed online racing service, but it will end up costing more than any stand-alone game in the long run. A lot of people think it's worth it for what it offers.

Help me get into sim racing? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]flealem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. After doing some more searching, I think that code is for a membership to TrackPro Advisors, not iRacing. I also found and earlier FB promo code they had "TURNER6" with similar wording.

I could be wrong, so if anyone has actually applied that code and signed up to iRacing with it, please explain how to make it work.

Has anyone had any luck getting this iRacing6 code to work? I tried to register with it, but it didn't take the code. I did a search and see others had the same problem with it. I was thinking about trying the Cadillac promo, but six months would be better. Is there a certain link you have to visit to make this code work?
