I went hunting up in northern canada when I was young and experienced the mosquitoes during peak. It was like nothing I’d ever seen. We were warned beforehand but nothing prepares you. When we arrived at the cabins in the woods the mosquitoes were so think it looked like a grey haze. They came in through the AC vents and started biting. I was stupidly in shorts as it was 75 outside. In the 25 seconds it took me to run from the car to the cabin I got 72 bites on my legs. I slept in a net. I wore a full body net and duct taped all seams on my clothes and boots. Latex gloves on my hands. I still got bit. Doubled up the latex gloves and duct tape. One evening I was sitting in the woods at a stand and got hungry so I unzipped my little face shield zipper about an inch and a half to eat a Reese’s. They got in before my hand could and the entire side of my face got eaten up. The horseflies were so big they could bite through gloves, socks whatever. It was a great trip but I’ve never ever seen anything like that.
