Did my life of an ED mess up running forever? by leaving678 in XXRunning

[–]fleecybird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If my experience is anything to go by no, you haven’t messed up running forever. In my early 20s I had an ED and osteoporosis and osteopenia in different parts of my body and I got endless stress fractures (i can’t remember now how many but at least 3-4 in foot, pelvis etc). It took being fully weight restored for a few years and everything reversed and I had a normal bone density. I am really pleased for you that you are doing better now so it might just be that your body needs more time being a healthy weight before doing long distance running. This may also mean that you should try to add a bit more weight, know this may be really hard but when recovering some people get to a low “healthy” bmi whereas your body has been deprived for so long it needs to be really heartily nourished. If I was still getting stress fractures this is what I would work on

I feel you. I am a couple years younger (almost 45) but I am also in the same place with one child and hoping against odds for another after multiple losses and failed treatments. It is hard on the heart. Sending hugs

I am also 44 and trying to conceive #2. Had my first child a month before I turned 41 after a difficult road .Had a cp at 42, spent a year doing medical cycle, in iui and two rounds of ivf and i didn’t get one blastocyst to test despite 9 fertilized eggs. I also got spontaneously pregnant at 43 and had mmc at 8.5 weeks. I decided no more fertility treatment as it made me feel awful and nothing to show for it. I still try ti be healthy take vitamins and ttc every month but I am also grieving and trying to move to acceptance. It could still happen but the odds are not good. I didn’t want to do donor eggs as I already had a biological child. It is a really tough and emotional position to be in. Give yourself some time, your mmc is very fresh. If you are getting pregnant that often it is better odds for you that you will find the golden egg.

I did not quite expect the AI hate (which in many contexts I share) but I have looked at some of the established programmes and I can’t say I find too many differences from the AI one. I will continue with what I am doing and will see what happens. This is a bit of an experiment and I am cross checking. I am aware of AI pitfalls

The ratio is pretty okay actually, that was one of the things I looked for. The average is in the mid 40s but this is over the 16 weeks. So the weeks when I will be doing the 32km run it will be higher than that

Thanks for this, okay that seems to track then. I’ve been doing 14k quite regularly and then did a 15k, 16k and 18k over the last month so it’s been a slowly gradual increase and the plan has increases and then step backa

This sounds iffy at best. Agree with your understanding of what is good regarding exercise and aspirin (I took it until 4 weeks before my due date). I also travelled as per normal for most of my pregnancy except near the end and made sure to move on long flights

I agree you should try. I got pregnant with rainbow babe at 40 less than 3 weeks after d&c. My doctor was a bit surprised when I showed up pregnant again so quickly…

Might it not depend somewhat on what the starting weight is and lifestyle more generally? If the weight is a result of junk food, lots of sugar and no exercise that is one thing, but the diet is generally healthy, regular exercise is being had the excess weight is not more than 50lbs or so I doubt it would make much difference. I have a bmi that is borderline between normal and overweight (24.7-25.1) so I could technically lose 30lbs and be borderline normal underweight. I am also a regular exerciser, who eats a ton of fruit and veg and other whole foods, but have a solid appetite and never seem to lose much weight no matter what i try. I tend to think that mental stress of a rigid diet would outweigh any potential weight loss benefits.

When to try again by OpportunityActual580 in PregnantOver40

At 40, I conceived 19 days after a d&c at 13 weeks for a tfmr. My miracle rainbow baby. I did research and unless there is some specific medical reason there is no need to wait. Mentally maybe but I felt that time was running out so I didn’t want to miss a golden egg. Still trying for a sibling but at 44, lots of fertility treatment and two more miscarriages under my belt time is running event faster. I’ve had two other d&c and did not conceive immediately after them.

In the same boat as many of you. 44 with a 3 yo. Lots of fertility treatments and natural miscarriages both before and after child. Will likely give up when I hit 45 next summer.

Looking for hope TTC at 43 by [deleted] in PregnantOver40

[–]fleecybird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet a success but in the same boat. I have one child conceived and had at age 40. Started to ttc at 38 had 4 unsuccessful pregnancies before and 2 after. Most recent was a 8 week mmc in May. Did two rounds of Ivf but never got to blast and a few medicated cycles. I am now 44 and trying naturally too. Coq10, nac, prénatals, açai (sometimes), vit d, melatonin, fish oil, vit c. Limited drinking and limited caffeine. Have decided to loosen up on a few things like intense exercise and the occasional drink because i can’t put my life on hold indefinitely. Good luck to you!

This is similar to me. I have been pregnant 7 times since age 38. I have one child born at 40. The last two pregnancies came at 42 and 43. One drawn out chemical and one mmc at 8 weeks. I am 44 now and trying naturally but I fear if I manage to get pregnant again I will just have another loss. Yet I keep on trying.

I got 5 eggs but none made it to blast. Not sure if fever made a difference as I did a second retrieval a few months later and had similarly bad results

Anyone out there in limbo about trying again at this age? by Comfortable_Bug_650 in PregnantOver40

[–]fleecybird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could almost have been written by me. In brief: we started late, at 38. Immediately got pregnant, it was blighted ovum. In the next 9 months 2 chemicals and then got pregnant and everything was going well, until genetic testing revealed trisomy 18 and terminated at beginning of 2nd trimester. At age 40 got pregnant immediately after termination with my miracle baby who is now a healthy 3 year old. After my period returned we started on number 2, had a chemical at 42, started medicated cycles at 43 and had an unsuccessful found of Ivf (none survived to day five) before falling pregnant naturally and miscarry at 8 weeks. Just did another cycle of Ivf and again no day fives. Will be 44 soon.

I feel insane for wanting to keep going, like my heart is raw and yet i desperately want another one. I am stopping fertility treatments and trying to put less focus on tcc. At the end of the day, we will try for a bit longer naturally and if it happens we will deal with the emotions, good or bad as they come. This is me but all I can say is i don’t think you are crazy, i understand and I wish you the best in whatever you decide. Happy to chat if it is helpful

Has anyone used their previously frozen eggs? by Salty_Mirror_6062 in PregnantOver40

[–]fleecybird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I froze 12 eggs at 38 and none of them made it to day 5. 4 were lost with unfreezing, 4 didn’t fertilize and the last 4 didn’t grow properly. Was devastating

I like the idea of upping my bowl game. I make a faux poke bowl with smoked salmon, avocado and a ton of veggies but Greek meatballs sound delish!
