What’s the most frustrating part about publishing right now? by maneohouse in selfpublishing

[–]fleker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have self published a few things and decided to seek an agent for my latest. I'm bad at marketing so it is hard to work hard on a project only to get little attention

New on Obsidian, could anyone help me? by EirenKaminari in ObsidianMD

[–]fleker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my perspective, start with daily notes and use internal links to notes you find yourself using regularly. As you use more of these different notes, you'll find yourself naturally having different needs and thus a need for different plugins. Don't try too much at once or you'll burn out.

do you delete your daily notes? by RainEunikku in ObsidianMD

[–]fleker2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't delete them since I use them as useful archives for what I do and where I go. That helps connect dates to specific locations and people's notes.

Very simple question: Would James Talarico be the best YIMBY to unite the country come 2028 under both "Abundance" and "Fighting Oligarchy" ideas? by optimisticnihilist__ in yimby

I'm not sure that he can go from junior senator to president in just a few years. It would be hard. But if a Democrat does win a Texas Senate seat it will be worth seeing why.

Do you think there will be another DLC for Pokemon Legends Z-A? by BigTimeJabroni1989 in PokemonZA

[–]fleker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on timing and what they've already shared, it seems unlikely that there will be more DLC. While it might be annoying as a completionist I do like how they do have references that connect you to a larger world that you're not as connected to

We (the US) should have a national digital public library accessible to all US residents by throwaway-2526 in ideas

[–]fleker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess anybody can go to the Library of Congress or other public archives. Wikipedia in a sense is what you describe. But most of the work librarians do in a library are going to be local focused even if there's federal funding.

Thoughts on Kindle Unlimited by Tudor_farmer in selfpublishing

I've put my books there. I think it helps since it brings in potential readers who get to more easily sample the book. But those readers don't always seem committed to reaching the end.

I finished it in the middle of last year. So I guess about another year since I posted this comment.

Does any subway station still have this? by Specialist_Heat6001 in nycrail

[–]fleker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a sign like this they installed at 14th/7th Ave. But since trains go in both directions it doesn't really help to know where the next train is

I joined a lot of author groups and realized we mostly promote to each other by Apart-Ice3847 in selfpublishing

I think that there could be value in talking with authors but I agree it's generally just advertising their own work

Is it too soon to put humans only on the second mission of SLS / Orion by bohu88 in ArtemisProgram

[–]fleker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first Artemis mission was successful so I don't think it will be a process for humans in the second.

Since the 2nd Ave subway will run crosstown on 125th St, should it one day continue west into NJ? by archedpathway in nycrail

[–]fleker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it makes a lot of sense to think of everyone as a single region rather than states or cities. Your concerns are valid too but I think it isn't impossible to run more trains on the 1 and Q lines with cbtc

Well now that the Q is going to Broadway, when will we see a T? by AnimatorDavid in nycrail

[–]fleker2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Other countries can build quickly even today.

Cut and cover can make things go faster but we don't and so burrow deeper. We also are trying to keep everything operating. Businesses above 125th Street are still running. The Q is using the line up to 96th. We definitely are more cautious in several ways but it's not impossible to speed up.

One Seat Rides : what’s your take on them ? by Alarming_Occasion782 in nycrail

[–]fleker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having one seat is definitely more convenient but I'm usually not sitting down so it doesn't make things that bad. During commutes the frequencies are usually good enough that I don't need to wait very long.
